Just got an email from Ross saying they started looking at my application. Anyone have any idea when I will hear back?
@swaggerjagger - based on history, Friday March 13th.
“Most top students who feel that Michigan is a safety and treats it as such in an application; perhaps by writing weak essays, is going to be deferred these days.”
Have you read hellagucci’s essays? If not, how do you justify this remark?
I second @TR250Tom’s comments.
My son was accepted EA to U of M, and has applied for Preferred Admission to Ross. This might be a strange question. Does anyone think applying for the honors program (due tonight at midnight) will help or have any impact on the Ross decision? Thanks.
I think that application to the honors program (which, sadly, I am not yet eligible for as a deferred candidate) will absolutely help your Ross decision. It will communicate “I am matriculating.”
^hmmm. Not sure. It says on the U of M site Honors FAQ:
"I am applying to Ross School of Business. Should I apply to Honors?
If you have expressed interest in another school or college in your UM application, we will admit you to Honors only if it is clear that you also have significant interest in the fields that are studied in LSA. More information here."
Unfortunately the “here” link does not work.
my son saw the same thing on the website about honors and we decided to wait and see if he gets in to any other top choices before he applies. And he thinks applying for honors would make it look like he didn’t think he would get in to Ross. And so we wait.
FOR EVERYONE WHO WAS DEFERRED:
I called the U of Michigan and they said that all deferral decisions will be released on February 1st.
OMG! Only half month away!!!
So none next week? Was it by Feb 1, or on Feb 1?
Hmmmm…not questioning anyone’s veracity, but I do notice smhsstudent has been on CC for one month, and has only 2 posts.
Funny that UM would release ALL the deferral decisions on the same day that RD closes. Not much opportunity then to compare the deferred students with the regular pool.
February 1st is on a Sunday, so I doubt results would be posted on February 1st. Knowing Umich’s desire to release decisions on Friday’s, they will must likely come out on January 30th. Also, that will only be some decisions NOT all, as some people aren’t even able to submit their midyear report by then.
Would I get my decision then if my first semester ends in a week? I don’t think grades will be in by February for umich to look at
@smhsstudent is that necessary? it does seem fishy that you just joined this thread in December and have had 2 posts and one of them is to create havoc? Not nice. Listen people, DO NOT listen to this person. Your letters of Deferrals said you will hear by April 1st, not by February 1st. Some students may hear some news sooner than others, but certainly not ALL like this person is saying. Let common sense prevail
Did anyone else receive the U of M regents merit scholarship for $1,500?
@fdizzle I did as well. It came in the mail on Friday.
I was deferred from COE. I’m a fourth generation legacy. I think I would have gotten in LSA. My dad and grandpa just sent in more donations. Should I switch to LSA because I really want to go to Michigan no matter what.
@michiganman2019 I read on some thread here that someone did that a few years ago and they said it worked for them. I kinda had the same dilemma as my ACT math was a 31 while the rest were 35/36. I opted for LSA and figured I could transfer in internally as a sophomore. I am a double legacy and in state so I feel for you. I think the first time I was on campus was a month old and my mom was having lunch with a friend who was in grad school. I’ve been to summer camps as soon as I was old enough all the way thru last summer. Good luck!!
I applied dec 30 for CE, but I haven’t heard back from them regarding anything (application portal etc) do they take a lot of time to send a "your application has been received " email? Should I contact them?
