University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

@TheMotion‌ don’t worry about when you emailed the rep. Nothing you can do about it now. Just make sure your updated grades are in and any other information that could work in your favor. Good luck!

@scout07‌ I have a friend who hasn’t emailed his rep yet. Do you think he should?
Thank you!

@wayneandgarth, On the admissions tumblr page, a letter of “burning desire” was mentioned.
I don’t think they are going to limit their first round acceptances (January - February) to only the “high stats” deferred EA applicants. If what you are saying is true, then there would be very few acceptances being released. Remember, only 4% of all college-bound students score above a 2100. Coupled with high GPA’s, ED acceptances, and demonstrated interest, the size of this group of “high stats” students, I believe, is very, very small compared to the rest of the RD pool. From looking back last year’s thread, I don’t think admissions is only going to release just a few acceptances.

Of course, this is all just speculation. Who knows? They might decide to release all decisions April. We can never be sure, so there is really no point of speculating what is intentionally hidden from us.

@bsalum‌ On the 2018 EA ACCEPTED thread this was posted as indicated Jan 31 2014.

My D was deferred and just received notice on WA in the last 24 hours that she was accepted to LSA. She did send an email to her admissions advisor expressing continued interest just last week.

That would be awesome if deferred applicants will receive a decision next week. There are many people still waiting…

Keep us posted!

There’s no question if you look at the 2018 thread that a large number of deferred applicant were admitted at the end of January/early February. Prior thread show the same in previous years. The only question is if Michigan’s new admissions strategy will make this year different.

@maya54 I hope this year isn’t any different

The U Mich admissions tumblr posted yesterday that deferred applicant would be hearing in “waves over the next 10 weeks.” That indicates to me that there is a strong possibility that they will be continuing the trend from past years and that some deferred applicants will be admitted next week. The question is if as many will hear in Jan/ Feb as did last year.

@TheMotion Should your friend have emailed the rep? Yes, probably, but honestly, if everyone emails their rep, how much impact would that really have? I don’t think your friend should sweat it. I don’t believe an email will make you or break you.

@EMPire18, the composition of UMich’s applicant pool is not going to be anything like the composition of the pool of all college applicants.

I think it’s safe to say that far more than 4% of UMich’s applicant pool scored over 2100 on the SAT.

@PurpleTitan, I made an error sorry. Definitely more than 4% of UM’s application pool will score over a 2100 on the SAT.

Did anyone get a reply from their regional admission officer for their letter of continued interest? Mine didn’t reply at all and I’m just worried they didn’t receive/bother to look at it.

@mtjade‌ I did

@mtjade My D didn’t get a response and didn’t want to email again because she didn’t want to look pesky. She sent her continued interest email sometime before New Year’s.

@mtjade‌ I did roughly 24 hours later I believe.

Hoping for good news next week now that they have my 35 but knowing my luck not expecting anything haha

@nagintapls‌ @bsalum @cl3v3land Thanks. So do you think I should send another one or just let it be. I guess she’s just pretty busy in whatnot.

@mtjade my theory is you should because they recommend writing a letter of “burning” interest. How could writing 1 more hurt?

Guys I have even written letters (questions+burning desire) more than six times and received something back from my counselor. I am just that desperate since I am in love with Michigan so much
