University of Michigan Early Action / Early Decision Class of 2030 Official Thread

After a lot of consideration, my child is planning to apply ED from out of state to LSA as a likely math major (probably mathematical sciences). I’m interested to know more about the LSA core requirements—not what they are, as we’ve reviewed this page, but rather the reality of completing them, especially if you want to double-major.

He will come in having already completed MVC and LA at a university; I’m having trouble understanding how Michigan will apply those, but I have to assume he will not need to retake them. Lots of 5s on APs, but it looks like that won’t help much in terms of satisfying requirements.

A couple of questions:

How common is it to double-major? What about across seemingly unrelated fields (e.g. math and History)?

Are you able to use classes taken for your major to satisfy the core requirements?

Thanks!
