So u assume those who still haven’t heard will most likely be deferred?
I hope that’s not a given (we are still waiting too), but suspect there will be deferrals and rejections in future waves. Yesterday seemed to be primarily acceptances — and included both ED-postponed and EA. I have perused Reddit and a few Parent groups, and it seems that there were plenty of acceptances yesterday, but not much (if any) bad news.
A very small number of people who applied EA heard yesterday. The majority of people who got in yesterday were ED applicants who had been deferred. Some speculate that in their first year of accepting ED applicants, they were overwhelmed with candidates forcing them to defer folks that they could not adequately review prior to the holidays. While I don’t know that it’s true, it seems plausible.
Most people who have applied EA have heard nothing. Some of them will be accepted, some will be denied and, in all probability, many many will be deferred.
If you are an EA applicant that did not hear yesterday, you are like the vast majority of candidates who simply has not heard and will receive a devision in the next 25 days.
Makes sense thanks! When do u think they would release future waves
No. I will almost guarantee another wave before January 31st. Sometimes they do mini waves also.
Just hang in there.
As others have said, they are clearly charting a new path in terms of notification. There is just no way to guess accurately (as frustrating as that may be). Hang in there, keep your fingers crossed and you’ll know soon enough.
This ^^^…
This has happened between EA and RD year’s ago also.
Were there any ED deferred people who got in yesterday who did not send a letter of continued interest yet?
My son didn’t send a LOCI and got accepted yesterday (OOS).
Thank you and congratulations!
So many
My daughter didn’t send the letter also.
4 students from our Public High School in MA got in. 3 were EA and one ED deferred. This is the maximum ever from our school
That’s awesome! Congratulations.
My daughter graduated from UMich this year. My son who is a junior will apply for class of 2031
Congratulations to her. A good friend of ours daughter graduated this year as well from School of information. She’s going to start working for PWc in January.
Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere (I tried to scroll around to check) But of all of the kids that were accepted, whether ED, EA or deferred, how many sent in test scores vs test optional? Just curious if there is a pattern.
No one will know at this point and might never know. Just assume some did and some didn’t.
I have scrolled through comments made in response to multiple college counselor posts on social media, and on Reddit, etc. Those accepted appear to be a mix of test-included and test-optional students. Also, a mix of in-state and OOS. Also, there were acceptances from all of Michigan’s colleges. And a mix of ED-postponed and just regular EA applicants. It actually appears to have been a sizeable group who received decisions.
I agree, as 4 got in from our school. This is the maximum ever.
