Quick question…if I feel as if I might be better off in LSA for atleast a year to better grasp what I want to do…can I rescind my ross application right now and still apply next year if I end up wanting to go into business?
I would doubt it… they clearly state and have you sign something on the application that you understand that once you apply, you cannot reapply. You could call them to confirm
Going to other revisits this weekend, but I think this will be the end of the road with Michigan. The way Michigan is handling the last round of decisions for Ross, is not cool, on so many professional levels. But they have the applicants, so one less really won’t matter. At the end of the day it is ones effort that determines success not the school!
Honestly this is a huge turnoff. As @FoxRulz points out, the way this is handled is completely unprofessional and IMO unethical. And this is just the beginning. God knows what kind of BS Ross is capable of going forward for those who ARE admitted. This is a huge red flag. Seriously consider any other options you have.
I have a couple of question that I’m hoping someone can answer. I applied to Ross, but because I haven’t heard back, I doubt I will get in. My question is, is there a way for me to still go to Michigan LSA and get a degree in business? Can I major in something at LSA and go to graduate school somewhere else for business? I know that LSA has an economics major and a major called Mathematics of finance and risk management, so if I major in one of those will I be able to go to graduate school for business? Thanks to anyone who can help.
@Sskahan… Simply Yes, of course. Read the whole thread and others. This has been answered a few times.
@Sskahan A lack of a “business” degree doesn’t stop anyone from pursuing “business” as it is a general management degree and the degrees offered in LSA are more specialized and actually deeper than the Ross BBA curriculum. You can also take those classes/majors at any liberal arts college and/or university. Many Ross BBA’s are dual majors and if that was your goal like it is/was for me, then a denial from Ross eliminates that possibility, with no ability to revisit sophomore year. Hence looking at other acceptances and seeing which one sets up best for an MBA at Harvard, Penn, Columbia as assuming Ross is off the table because there has been zero communication.
What’s the likelihood of getting a minor in business after not getting in Ross as a major initially?
@PatiencePls… You can look up how to get a minor and you have to meet some requirements. But I. Don’t think that is guaranteed either per se
I was at the NYC UMich Admitted Student event last night and spoke with the admissions director from Ross. There will be no decisions coming out this Friday. All remaining decisions will come out on the same date - they are strongly working for it to be Friday, April 20th at 5PM. If not, then the following Friday. Everyone that is waiting will either be admitted, denied or for a few, waitlisted. She did say that those that are waitlisted would typically be either admitted or denied sometime during May once everyone has made their college decisions on May 1.
Thank you @Knowsstuff
Are kids who have already enrolled to lsa the only ones who get waitlisted at ross? I dont see how kids considering other schools entirely could wait until May to get a decision
Is it true it’s intense to get into the best Ross business clubs/orgs? Which ones are the most challenging?
Apparently a few of the clubs are pretty incestuous and only allow their friends in. Why this is important is because certain business-marketing-finance-consulting clubs feed into the top firms. They get first dibs on the best internships. So essentially, getting into a club freshman year ensures you’re going to get a really good internship.
did anyone see the acceptance rate for the minor in business on the website? I know it is quite competitive.
Anything anyone?
@parker5s Admissions said nothing before next Friday at best, could be later. Clearly managing their acceptance numbers, IMO.
Thanks for the info! That’s only a 50% acceptance rate, better than for the major, but still hard to get into
Question…does Ross actually waitlist, and if so, do you need to accept your LSA spot to stay on that waitlist? Or can you accept at another business school and then withdraw if you get into Ross after May 1?
