University of Michigan Ross Pre-Admits Fall 2018

@onward2018 I believe you must accept LSA by 5/1 since Ross is separate. But good question to clarify.

It doesn’t seem fair to give up a business school dream (and give up other opportunities) and settle for LSA for a “chance” at getting into Ross after May 1. If someone (anyone) can clarify, that would be great. Will also reach out to Ross to try and get an answer.

@onward2018 according to Ross themselves, enrolling in the LSA and later applying to Ross isn’t even an option, so if you got rejected or don’t know by May 1 you should consider other options

@onward2018 What are your other options for schools and other business schools? We are revisiting each of our acceptances and digging deeper if denied or waitlisted.

Also, it seems that several schools in are area are all waiting for Ross decisions too, I think most decisions have not been released.

@FoxRulz Kelley School of Business, UofSC Darla Mooore, Purdue Krannert, and Miami of Ohio Farmers. All with significant scholarships, so cost is pretty much even across the board even though we are in-state (Michigan).

We found Purdue to be significantly cheaper for OOS students. Also, we got a letter that they are holding tuition at the same level for multiple years. Of course scholarships can change that equation.

So funny, Purdue was one of the most expensive options for us. We are oos

Do you guys know if the waves depend on when you applied or the strength of your application. What I mean to ask is: are the first wave acceptances the strongest applications or are they just the earliest submitters?

@bankingfinance Really not sure, our counselors are saying that no one in our area has heard yes/no so perhaps it is by region. It definitely isn’t first in first to hear as accepted since December EA. I would have to believe they accepted students who they are offering aid/scholarships too, to give those families time to reflect more than just a week, but who knows for sure.

@FoxRulz hmm makes sense. I was wondering because there was an issue with my application to Ross that wasn’t cleared up until February, which is when you application finally joined their pool. I wasn’t expecting anything until the last wave, but as we get close to it… well, let’s just say I now feel the need for a little anxiety.

I’m not quite sure about the area theory. I got my LSA acceptance before everyone else in my school, and they have all received their rejections in the March waves, but I’m still waiting on my Ross decision.

@FoxRulz Scholarships definitely dont have to do with it, since I received some sizeable financial aid, yet I got accepted in the most recent wave (I got accepted EA in December). My best guess is the strength of the application, because other than that, I have absolutely no idea what’s going on in that admissions office.

It is all speculation at this point. There is a lot that goes into the decisions, demographics (in-state vs. OOS), financial, diversity including international candidates. They want to build a great class of students and many factors are weighed. There will be a lot of great candidates that will not be admitted but that does not mean their career is over before they started.

In the end Ross or no Ross, it is what you make of it, as a “name” will only get you so far.

@FoxRulz My guess is that it is by region, because they’ve done little events for accepted students from Chicago, NY, South Florida, etc. So not region I guess but rather cities/large areas first and then I don’t know. Idk that’s just my guess.

Do they even have acceptances in the last wave?

I would really like to know why I was placed in the last wave

A fool’s errand. It likely has no meaning.

Does anyone know if today is the final wave? Thinking they could go to next Friday, as their email received, after submitting application, states they will be rolling out decisions until the end of April.

@FoxRulz one of my friends was at Ross a couple of weeks ago and he talked with an admissions rep. If I understood correctly, they told him that they “cant guarantee he’ll hear from them by May 1st”. Its important to mention that he got accepted to LSA pretty late (like early April)

@Jagomezpr For what it’s worth, I called Ross Undergraduate Admissions yesterday. I gave my name and the date I submitted my application. The woman (forgot to get her name) told me that I would hear “by this Friday”. Not sure if she was just trying to reassure me (or just to get me off the phone lol) but she said that with certainty. So far, no email but I would expect it more around 5-6.
