My twin sons just got accepted to UMN twin cities. Applied : 9/9/2024 , Got in today , 9/16/2024 to CSE . Yay. In-state
Congrats! Can you post their stats?
Thank you. Yes. ACT: 36 and 34, Ranking 4/464, Unweighted GPA:4/4
8AP classes plus 4 AP currently working on .
Their recommendation letters have not even been submitted.
Kids didn’t expect to receive their acceptance this early.
Congratulations! We are OOS. My daughter applied on 8/1. Still waiting. Fingers crossed because this is a top choice of hers.
We visited last spring and loved it. We’re going back next month, so her dad can check it out too. Unless my daughter receives a rejection, in which case we will pivot to another school.
Good luck everyone. Go Gophers!
Hi- we just received acceptance last night! 3.8UW/4.7W SAT 1330 12 APs. We are out of state and hoping for the Honors College and Merit. Does anyone know when the school notifies about merit and Honors College? Any estimates of merit for OOS based on our stats?
Thanks!
Congrats! What major/college was your student accepted into, and when did they apply? That will help those who are waiting to hear still.
We are in-state, so I’m not aware of what they give OOS for merit.
Liberal Arts
Forgot to add that we applied just over a week ago so were surprised to hear so soon!
Submitted On August 7, accepted On Sept. 16, CSE ,OOS
For those who have been admitted already, did you apply via Common App or the Golden Gopher app? Thanks!
Golden Gopher for my S25.
Thank you for this info. Congrats to your student!
Thanks. Don’t think it matters which application you use. The only reason we used golden gopher is because minnesota uses only the most basic info from common app ( no recs, course information or essay).
My S25, in state student who applied using common app, was admitted (can’t remember the dates of application/admission honestly, but I think he applied late August and was admitted late September). Stats: 3.96 UW/4.86 Weighted GPA. ACT Superscored 34 (If they don’t look as a superscore, It’s 33). SAT 1520. I think he has both of these in common app. Major is Math.
My now sophomore got their Honors invite in a separate letter I think about 2-3 weeks after acceptance. I don’t remember specific timing on merit money but I don’t think it was until around March and it was dripped out in a couple of different scholarships. So many factors go into the scholarship decision so I’d rather not post stats here but I’m happy to PM you if that’s OK about what my OOS student received. It was generous enough to make UMN cheaper than our state flagship.
If you dont mind messaging, would be curious how the $ ended up working out. We are in a state where are our flagship has become pretty competitive so hoping UMN will be an affordable alternative. Also could be a nice adventure to get away from home.
Separately, how is your kid liking the school as someone from OOS?
Will do. UMN is proving to be a great fit for my kid. They found their people and love (most) of their classes and the Twin Cities.
My daughter just got her acceptance (10/14)! Applied Common App on 10/6, complete on 10/8. OOS student applying to Kinesiology program.
