University of Pittsburgh Class of 2022

@hailtopitt1787 - Hello! Many people are saying that on their acceptance letter it was written that they will be considered for merit aid but I did not get any such notice in my acceptance letter. Does this mean that I will not be receiving any scholarships? I have a weighted GPA of 91.07 and an SAT score of 1480 (my school does not rank). Pitt is my first choice but it is OOS so I need some sort of scholarship to be able to afford it. Thank you!

Hi,
for the large group of people that have received their acceptances, what did your acceptance letter say? I had no information about the Honors College or the Medicine GAP which I said I was interested in, as well as merit aid. My ACT score was a 34 and my gpa is a 92, so I believe that I qualify for the honors college. When should I find out about the honors college?

omg got a letter today, full tuition scholarship as an in-state student!!! h2p, so happy!

amazing @skipper99!!! congratulations, not an easy thing to get as in state! wonderful.

Congrats @skipper99!! Fantastic news

Got merit notification today. Full tuition scholarship to Dietrich with 35 ACT and 4.42 WGPA. OOS. Applied in August, visited campus, and answered all three short answer prompts. No Chancellor’s invite. VERY grateful for the scholarship–good luck to all applicants!

Has anyone experienced not receiving any information about the Honors College or consideration for merit scholarship in their acceptance letter, even though they have high stats? I have a 34 ACT and a weighted average of 96. (I’m not sure what that is on the 4.0 scale). I believe that I would qualify for the honors college and consideration for merit scholarships. Thanks!

WOW @tryingmybest17 Fantastic!!! Congratulations!!! What is your major?

@AmyBeth68 Thank you!! I’m planning on majoring in Computer Science.

That’s outstanding!!! Very best of luck to you, off to a great start!!!

@tryingmybest17 That is amazing! Congratulations!!

@skipper99 Another wow!!! Congratulations on your full tuition scholarship!

@Music465 D’s acceptance letter mentioned both honors college and that she would be considered for a merit scholarship. From previous Gap invites, it seems that occurs separately.

@DfwMomof2 @hailtopitt1787 if your acceptance letter does not mention the honors college or consideration for a merit scholarship, are you still considered?

@music465 I have no idea, sorry. :frowning:

@RUPITT and @music465, We automatically review students who apply before December 15 (and submit responses to the Short Answer Questions). So yes, you should still be reviewed for scholarships. The scholarship committee meets weekly and letters go out weekly to recipients November-March 1.

Honors College eligibility might be mentioned in your admission letter, but we also sometimes send it separately. You can learn more about the requirements for Honors College eligibility here: http://www.honorscollege.pitt.edu/course-eligibility

My daughter got an acceptance letter for Dietrich. However no mention of honors or scholarships. She has a
high GPA but her SAT is 1410. We are oos. Will she be considered for scholarships or honors. Pitt will be out of reach without a scholarship. Thanks

@cardinal27

Here is the humongous thread about Pitt merit scholarships from last year’s admission class. Of course, you can’t guarantee from year to year that things don’t change but read through the stats and what people were awarded or not awarded and you can have a pretty good idea. I think there were a few with scores below what is on the website who were awarded $5K per year.

From the Pitt website:

University Scholarship Recipient Profile

In recent years, scholarship eligible students possessed ALL of the following:
Minimum SAT score of 1480 or ACT composite score of 33
Overall ‘A’ average
Challenging high school curriculums consisting of AP/IB/Honors courses
Top 5% class rank (if applicable)

I was at a Pitt information yesterday and they are saying 1490 minimum as of right now, fwiw. My junior has a 1480 and was not necessarily going to take it again. I guess he will have to if Pitt makes his final list.

Has anyone that applied on 10/25 or after have their buttons show up?
