@Thewaiting4ever no no mid yr grades were asked
So according to the website I was accepted on wednesday(when the buttons changed) but I haven’t gotten an email yet. When can one expect to receive an email?
It seems like the email usually arrives a couple days later.

Just called pitt admissions. Didn’t make the qualifications to apply for Medicine GAP despite 34 ACT and about a 96 weighted average, with four AP’s in math science. I also didn’t get an Honors College acceptance, having those stats clearly meeting requirements on website. I’m confused as what Pitt uses determine someone who is eligible honors college, vs. can take college courses. Hope this doesn’t affect my merit scholarship chances…
@music465 — hmm perhaps it’s the UNweighted part of the GPA requirement that’s keeping him out? What is the unweighted GPA? They have historically been pretty tight about having test scores and GPA requirement.
@carachel2 my weighted gpa is about a 92. I’m eligible to take honors classes at pitt, but I’m not “in” the honors college.
Thought I’d post that I’ve received my Pitt Merit decision since I’ve been stalking this thread (seeing if others received news!)
Full tuition to Dietrich with 35 ACT, 96/100 unweighted GPA, OOS! Accepted on 9/13, applied on the first day applications came out (since I wrote my essays beforehand).
Got a Chancellor’s Invite! Good luck to all!!! I’m very grateful for this amazing scholarship!
@LushLillies Congrats on your fabulous scholarship!
@music465 I wonder if it was your 92 unweighted gpa that kept you from being “in” the honors college?
S18 received admission email today. Everyone very excited.
I applied 9/28 and my app was complete 10/13. Still no button or mail. 3.97UW/4.16W GPA, 1470 SAT, in state, good ECs. Applied to college of engineering. Do I have reason for concern?
I just heard back from Pitt today and got in. I also submitted my app around the same time you did, so hopefully you’ll hear soon! I think you’ll get in. I had a 3.7 W GPA and 32 ACT so you are already doing better than me
I received an email from Pitt yesterday night, I was so excited(and in tears haha)! However, I read the full email and I was accepted to Bradford, not Pittsburgh. :((
What concerns me is:
- I absolutely don’t like the regional campuses, so this sort of “false hope” hurt a little
- I never had buttons changed. My application is still pending so I'm very skeptical?
I’m either pretty disappointed or confused at this point, and it’s a real bummer. I’m also unsure what to do. :-?
I am getting new ACT scores next week, so maybe Pitt can reconsider me for the main campus?? Honestly, I haven’t seen any changes online or app so… haha
Oh, and Bradford does not have my major, either. Double bummer! Ouch! :-SS :-SS :-SS
@planner03…How long after receiving your acceptance letter that did not mention merit did you receive a merit letter? And if I may ask, how much was your award?
I have a 1230 on my SAT. I have taken a few AP classes. My situation is kind of different because I was in a boarding school in a different country till 9th grade. So that messed up everything for me in terms of higher level courses. I’m glad you mentioned “look at the whole picture”! It’s true!
@greeneandh What is your major? The branch campuses can be a good option if you want to save some money. Bradford has housing and gives $7,500 for certain stats and living on campus. Tuition fees and room board runs about $23,000 for instate. A smaller campus can be a more supportive environment, and you might have the option of transferring to main later if your GPA meets requirements.
But you can try sending your new score and maybe midterm grades and see if you can be reconsidered for main.
What exactly happens when the buttons change? Is this on my.pitt.edu ? Or is it on the app version?
