I would like to post my son’s stats and merit scholarship information. My son got his merit notification today by mail with 20k/year for 4 years and NO chancellor invitation. He is accepted before Thanksgiving for honors college and GAP in business school. We are OOS NJ. His stats: 36 ACT, GPA 4.232 weighted of 4.0 scale. 4 APs in sophomore/junior years, and 5 APs in senior year. NMSF Semi-Finalist. A lot of ECs.

How long did it take to receive financial information after being accepted?
It took two weeks for my son to get it.
Hi! My daughter was accepted in October. OOS with no merit, but it’s alot less than her choices around here. We would like to visit to make sure it feels right to her. Do you think that an Accepted students’ Day is the way to go, or a day where she can shadow a student? We are 7 hours away and can only go once. Thanks!
Accepted student visits are in March/April I think.
Merit can be awarded from November until March. I don’t think there is a timeline or that it goes by when you applied.
My D applied in August and found out about merit in December a few years ago.
Some candidates can also be in review several times I think until a final merit decision is made.
My D is able to use her scholarship in the 4 years of undergraduate study of her 6 year PharmD.
(2 year prephamacy and P1 and P2).
I know it is hard to wait to hear whether you get merit or not.
But I don’t think Pitt is “dragging things out”.
If a student applied early they have their acceptance notification in a few weeks.
And March is not too late to find out about merit.
Some schools don’t even notify about acceptance until then.

For those of you who might want to know, I just got the Medicine GAP email a couple days after I was accepted.
@jl2018 was there a spot on the application to include AP classes taken during senior year or were they mentioned in essays? also, is it important to have your AP scores sent to Pitt? my D has not sent them and has been accepted but we are waiting to see she gets any Meritt money with a below target SAT of 1350. Thanks
My son reported AP scores for his sophomore/junior year, and the AP courses he is taking in senior year. He didn’t send his AP scores through College Board. Thanks.
You don’t need to send your AP scores unless you decide to attend Pitt.
When you take your AP exams in May of senior year, you can then put Pitt on the test booklet and they will get all of your AP scores in July.
I thought there was a question on the application about what senior classes you were taking.

For scholarships, we send out letters weekly Nov-Feb. The latest someone would hear from us that they had been selected to receive a scholarship would be March 1.

Hi. Last year my Pitt requested my son’s midyear grades and any senior SAT/ACT he might take. This letter came at the beginning of October. He retook ACT and got a lower score. As a last ditch effort he took the December SAT. His score went up 110 points. He felt that the review, especially of math in senior year helped. Also he took the SAT and ACT several times at that point and felt that he wasn’t as nervous and felt more comfortable with the test.
His mid year grades were up slightly. Nothing major. He sent both scores and grades to Pitt at the end of January and was accepted by the middle of February. He is now a freshman and is taking finals this week. He didn’t give up because Pitt was his first choice. Our advice is keep your grades up and retake the ACT/SAT. That is what they want to see. A higher test score and consistent if not higher GPA. Good Luck!

I am an international applicant, and I read somewhere that there is an application deadline this upcoming Friday (Dec 15). Is this true?
Not for admission, but I think for scholarship, it is December 15, even though “Students submitting completed applications after December 15 are still reviewed, but awards are made based on availability of funding.”

Does anyone know when Chancellor’s nominees will begin hearing back regarding their interview status? And is this done on a rolling basis or is there a single date/time at which everyone will find out?
The Scholarship Committee begins reviewing and nominating potential candidates on a rolling basis beginning in late October. Submitted Chancellor’s Scholarship applications are reviewed continuously as they are submitted and nominees are notified of whether they have or have not been awarded an interview soon afterwards. In all cases, nominees will hear of their status no later than April 15.

Just received my scholarship info in the mail! $15k a year with Chancellor’s nomination. OOS. My stats were 34 ACT, 3.86 W GPA on a 4.0 scale, 2 AP’s junior year, and 3 AP’s this year. I believe I must’ve had some pretty solid essays because most of the chancellor’s nominees I’ve been seeing had much nicer stats. Praise the lord for holistic review hahaha.
