Can someone tell me how to get onto the new student portal? My son applied earlier this week and has only gotten a pin number. Can you do anything with a pin number? Thanks

I think I’m the rare outlier for those who are given scholarships. I received $15K/year through the Cathedral of Learning.
So my stats were:
African Female
SAT: 1330
Weighted GPA: 4.35
UWGPA: 4.0
Rank: 6/533
School: Dietrich College of Arts and Sciences
Major: Neuroscience/Biochemistry (PreMed)
After completing high school, I will have earned 27 college credit hours.
I still can’t believe I was given a scholarship. Blessed

Hi!! I just applied to Pitt and I was reviewing my app after I submitted it and I couldn’t find where I selected to be considered for the guaranteed admissions for graduate school for communication sciences? Is it supposed to show up??

@haygirlhay wow. Yes, total outlier but perhaps a move by Pitt this year to extend merit beyond their traditional stat requirements? Guess it will definitely be a whole new year.
@carachel2 Completely! I was totally taken by surprise when I received the letter. I’m extremely happy that they gave me such an award. I think my short answer essays sealed the deal for them.
@heyhaygrl --hmmmmm…I don’t know. Lots of kids with stats below the published threshold write amazing essays I’m sure. Pitt merit is a mystery this year for sure: even more unpredictable and more generous! Santa is indeed up in the Cathedral dishing it out lol!

As in on the app, the buttons are asking me to accept or decline admissions, which means acceptance

My daughter applied to UPITT in October and was accepted 12-6. We just completed the scholarship information. Does anyone know how soon we will know how much they are covering? My question is they consider us middle class, yet we can’t afford 25K annually. I will do anything possible to help my daughter. She is 1st in our family to go to University.
Should she consider a University that is cheaper for Biology? She does not want to go to CA schools.
Our experience is that accepted student days are worth attending, if you want to see the school and make sure its the right fit. You will be with other accepted students, kids that could live in her dorm and be in her classes. We found that more detail is provided about the school than in the regular admissions tour. FYI- our son is a Sophomore and absolutely loves Pitt.
@“Momof3Girls!” —merit scholarships will be given out on a rolling basis from now until March.
Need based financial aid is given out in early spring.
Do you know your EFC and how all of that works?
I do see an EFC number on her FAFSA. I’m not sure how it works though?
Does Pitt provide financial aid, besides Pell Grant, for OOS student?
@annamom Yes they do seem to give out a few OOS awards called “Panther Pride” awards. I don’t know any of the details about them such as the income threshold or EFC threshold. Maybe someone who received one can chime in?
