Update: DD got acceptance in the mail today. She also got the GAP to Swanson. She called and was told that honor college and scholarship decision will be released starting Nov.
Where does it say that Pitt received your application?
@dc8869 They should send an email around 3 days after you submit with information to access your application tracker.
My daughter applied via common app early Oct… Her status says application complete and under Accept/Decline it says no pending application because looks like the counselor sent high school transcript early Sept. Does it still make sense to complete the SRAR as she hasn’t received an email for SRAR from the admissions office. I read somewhere that high school transcripts can slow the process down? @hailtopitt1787 Thank you.
@dream104 it is likely that we already have her high school transcript since it shows the application is complete, but I would still call her territory manager to confirm. https://oafa.pitt.edu/esm_directory.php
Thank you. Will do.
Is there a specific time the buttons should appear? Like do they wait to change the buttons for all accepted applicants in a day or do they change the buttons as people get accepted? Just trying to figure out if there is a certain time I should be checking.
Has anyone received acceptances recently? Haven’t seen any updates.
My son got his acceptance email today, but we were able to see the portal change already last Friday with the accept and deny buttons appearing. Nothing was mentioned about scholarships and honors college though. I believe he has to wait a bit to find out. He sent in his application on 10/3.
In previous years scholarship notification seemed to start in November, my D heard in December. It just depends when his file comes before the committee, they meet every week from October on I think.
How do you know if you are denied? Will it show up on portal or do you have to wait for letter.
If I send the SRAR do i still need to send my transcript?
@ashleyeliz If you have sent the SRAR and your application says complete then you do not have to send the transcript and if they have received your transcript and application says complete then you don’t have to send in the SRAR. We confirmed with the admissions office.
Reading last years and this years thread I can see that someone with high stats often gets an acceptance within 10 days. If you have middle 50% stats then there is a delay. Probably because they are scrutinizing the application and comparing I guess :(.
Honors selection was later last year I think. The process has changed, it is much more competitive and holistic. Not all high stats students got into honors last year.
FYI, last year accepted students started getting snail mail letters with merit scholarship offers on Oct 17. So, some of us might be hearing some news soon! ??
For those asking about rejection, last year that was by snail mail only. They also used snail mail last year to request more info if needed. My son was a borderline admit and was asked for an additional SAT and mid year grades before he finally received his acceptance in February.
This is why I’m so nervous haha. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I submitted and I’ve been a nervous wreck because I know I don’t have top stats. The waiting is killing me I hope the delay isn’t long.
I’ve been stalking this thread for weeks!
My daughter applied 9/30 *(Dietrich) but hasn’t heard yet. She has 3.99 UW GPA , Several AP/ Honors Classes, ECs including DECA Leadership, School Store Manager, PEER Advisor, and a Volleyball career turned into coaching. She’s also currently an intern with a non profit cancer organization as their social media manager. BUT her SAT’s were 1170 and she knows she won’t do much better than that (and that’s eliminating her from a ton of programs!).
Since she has weaker than the average SAT scores for PITT, I’m going to assume they are looking at her with more scrutiny (hopefully the “Holistic” approach they often talk about). Her essays were strong.
She met an admissions rep at her school and they had a great conversation where the counselor said she would push her application along. , plus she visited for Blue and Gold day (which was AMAZING and sold us on Pitt!). And she’s OOS!
Summation: AMAZING school, and hoping for great news soon, but excited for all of those attending in 2020!
Agree. I am counting on the holistic approach for my kid. Pitt is an amazing school and we all fell in love with it when we visited. However the wait is killing. I am assuming we might receive a letter for mid term grades or new SAT/ACT scores
