got my financial aid package. $12,000/yr for Panther Pride Award and $2,000/yr in grants. not too bad.
Just received an acceptance from pitt main campus computing school on friday. any idea on when to expect a financial aid package?
Couple questions
- Recently received my admission, when should I expect Honors College letter
- Got financial aid awards, is that different than the Scholarships.
- If yes, when should I expect the scholarship decision
There was a Nov 1 priority deadline for honors and Dec 15 priority deadline for scholarship consideration.
Did you apply before that?
Financial aid information depends on when you filed FAFSA.
If merit is awarded, you should be notified before March.
Yup, I applied before the deadline, I mean I applied on Dec 15 but hey…
When will the final merit awards be released?
I applied on Dec.13 but did not receive a merit award yet. does this mean I will not get one?
Looks like you applied to CS.
It appears Pitt is not offering much merit to CS students, even those with perfect stats admitted months ago and accepted to Honors.
I think there was one report of merit received by a CS student on this thread.
Congrats on everyone who got accepted!
I just got my financial package today (I think this is the final one lol ).
15k/year Cathedral of Learning Achievement Scholarship
7k/year Engineering merit
8k/year Panther Pride Award
Vulcan…congrats on MIT and Caltech admits…My daughter graduated from MIT in June and it was very very hard but she got the big job with the big $…My son loved Pitt when we visited. Praying he gets enough merit and or financial aid to be able to attend. We’re Oos
@hailtopitt1787 question about merit aid. Initial merit award was sent with acceptance letter. Unfortunately wasn’t selected for Stamps. Chancellor still pending. In 2vent not selected for Chancellor award is the initial merit award the final award? More directly is there any additional merit that would be awarded beyond the initial amount? Is asking for a merit award in anyway worthwhile if it would be a deciding factor in attending Pitt?
Thank you for the good information here. DS is in SCI and we are wondering about potential of any merit. Now we know. So there is merit award in Engineering, but not SCI?
Not sure if Pitt negotiating merit or not, but D17 negotiated $20k from U Chicago (EA) with her MIT admission. We are full pay, so she made the decision to go with full tuition merit scholarship at Vandy.
Can anyone advise re: making it back for an admitted student day (there are 6 scheduled over the next 2 months) vs just doing a “regular” admissions visit day with school tour, info session, Honors info session, etc? Admitted student day sounds great but we’re having trouble making the schedule work. D20’s only other time on campus was a quick tour + info session on her own last June, so we all need to see more!
If selected for continuation in the Chancellor’s Scholarship selection process, when should we expect to hear by?
someone called pitt and they said notifications for the chancellors scholarship will be coming next week
Have any of you received an invitation to interview for the chancellor’s scholarship? They said they will only notify you if you got it so I want to know when I should stop expecting it.
@Itisatruth We will be attending admitted student day on Presidents Day next week (weather permitting) and can update you. We were there for a Blue and Gold Day in the summer, and have to admit it was one of the best college presentations we have seen (D is my third in college, so have experienced many). There is a thread further down titled Admitted Student Day started by @vannevka stating they were disappointed by their visit - check it out. I’m hoping it was just an off day, or that Pitt has changed things up since then, because our experiences with admitted student days were usually good enough to seal the deal for most kids (at least where my other two went). I’ll update when we return.
Does anyone know when additional scholarship decisions will be released? I’ve had on my portal that I had 10k “University Scholarship” for a while now, but I haven’t received a letter or any notification about my financial aid.
Does anyone have any information on the stats of people invited to interview for Chancellor’s? I’m definitely not expecting an invitation, but I am curious to see what Pitt looks for
@PAdude that would probably be the final merit amount. However, all of our students gain access to our scholarship database, PittFund$Me, so you could potentially earn more scholarship money through there.
