University of Pittsburgh Class of 2024 Official Discussion Thread

@hailtopitt1787 by what date can we expect to receive final merit aid?

My daughter was accepted to Pitt last Fall. She said she does’t have a portal…she just gets email information from them. Has anyone else been accepted thru email and not a portal?

@roamingoff March 1.

Finally My S got that famous button this afternoon. Didn’t receive email yet.
Should he press the Accept button to move forward?

Applied in the middle of November
Mid year grad requested in middle of December
Mid year grad submitted one month ago
Button appeared today, Dietrich Sch Arts and Sciences
SAT 1330 (one shot), ACT 27, 3.82 GPA

@YS1111 I believe if he hits the accept button, that indicates that he is committing to attend Pitt. If he’s undecided, don’t press it yet.

@samsmom20 We are still waiting for the email, Thanks for your advice.

Someone posted on other thread that s/he received Chancellor invite on 2/06/20. Anyone else gets the invitations?

@onelittleredfrog I have only read about that one as well.

I applied to Pitt on December 13, and I have still not heard anything about my decision. On the website, they say the average wait is 4 to 6 weeks, but it has been 8. In the portal, it says that they have all my materials. Should I contact someone or just wait it out?

Hi
We are trying to make college decisions, my D is my first American child and we are completely new to the college process. It seems that most of you are very knowledgeable about this process so I thought I could ask some questions.
My D got accepted to Dietrich Sch Arts and Sciences and was offered a very generous financial aid package (we are OOS and also need based.)
In your opinion, around how much is reasonable to pay out of pocket for Pitt as an OOS student?

Thanks!

What are your D’s other options and what is their cost? What is her major and what are her future plans after getting her undergraduate degree?

Pitt is an excellent school but if you have comparable options at a lower cost that might change the decision.

We got the buttons today. Applied Nov 29th, had to submit mid year grades.

Just to confirm - your student applied EA, submitted mid-year grades and now sees buttons?

My daughter also submitted updated grades after an EA deferral so was curious as to when additional updates might be released.

Thanks!

No, we were RD, but applied by the priority scholarship date.

Got it - in any case, sounds like RD decisions are now being release. Good to know - thanks again!

Pitt has rolling admissions, with an app that opens sometime in the summer. There is no EA or RD. Just rolling…with certain deadlines for merit scholarships, honors college, etc.

Some people said they got the Panther Pride Award. I believe this is a need based financial aid from Pitt. Then likely, it depends on people’s FAFSA and Pitt’s available grants in every year. Do you know if this Award only applies for incoming Freshman or all returning Pitt students? If it applies for all, then could expect to receive it again every year assuming about the same EFC?

Thank you

@hailtopitt1787 I got an admission offer from your university for fall 2020 session and got bradford campus, which was my second preference, is there anyway by which i can get pittsburgh campus instead

I also got the buttons a few days ago. I was wondering what this meant? If it even means anything lol
