University of Pittsburgh Class of 2028 Official Thread

I got accepted into computing early november and got physical acceptance letter/poster thing last week. Not sure why you didn’t get it, perhaps it got thrown out accidentally or they didn’t have correct mailing address.

They have the correct mailing address - must have gotten delivered to the wrong address. Happens a lot.

Did your student get any merit money?
Mine also admitted Nov 1, got formal regular mail letter last week. No mention of merit- wouod expect something.

Not yet, I check fairly consistently and I still haven’t gotten honors or merit. My friends who got merit all submitted much earlier, like in august or september so it might take a while for merit. For reference: I submitted mine Oct 13

Do they send an email when the decision was posted in the portal?

As distinct from submission dates, anyone here whose application shows as Downloaded on 10/30 (or later) receive a decision yet?

yes an email will come but it’s days after the portal has actually been updated and the document center has the letter of admission.

Received confirmation that application was under review in mid-October (application submitted a couple weeks before) and still no decision. Nearing the end of the “6-8” week timeline. Anyone else? Concerning or reason to reach out?

Have you checked to see that they wanted Mid-Year grades? It is in the portal under the To-Dos. I would also try emailing the admissions office for any information on your application once it passes the 6-8 week mark

He applied to Dietrich Arts & Sciences (Economics) At MSU he applied as Political Science. That might have made a difference but who knows?

Thanks!

My daughter still has not heard. She submitted on 10/20 and her application was under review on 11/13. Hang in there. My older daughter applied last year a bit earlier and heard within four weeks. Her stats were not as high and she was accepted with some merit.

@MattPNJ, Are you OOS? Did he apply test optional or submitted his test scores?

Not me, but my friend. I wanted to post another denial - he got into the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences but not the GAP Program.
his stats:
SAT but didn’t submit - 1440
Submitted ACT 33
3 school leadership roles
work experiences
great essay pertaining to major
Fully submitted on Sept.11
Acceptance Sept 13
Rejection from GAP Nov. 29
There is nothing about merit yet, still wishful
Acceptance from Penn State and UD

Which GAP did they apply for? GAP programs are notoriously difficult to get into especially medical related so I don’t know if I’d count this as a denial since they got in Pitt.

Do you actually get a “rejection” for GAP? As far as I know, they only send out admit letter to whoever gets it but not rejection.

I agree with @Durham1972…not receiving GAP is not a denial.

Some GAP programs are incredibly hard to get into because they come with many guarantees. The GAP programs for which you will see more acceptances come with far fewer guarantees and will have many stipulations. For instance, med school GAP is very competitive — probably ans competitive as admission to an Ivy — and a long process. Other GAPS, like business or law school, are triggered by test scores and high school GPAs and not nearly as competitive.

He did receive one, they said they were very sorry they couldn’t offer him the GAP but can reapply every year and be considered. But couldn’t offer it this year.

It was the Medical School one, and Pitt’s currently his #2 school, as @CCName1 said it is very competitive. He wasn’t expecting to get it but I wanted to let people know his stats
