University of Pittsburgh Class of 2028 Official Thread

I’ll definitely be in touch!! It’s really her most likely choice right now and we’re going to the Purdue for Me day in March to visit again.

Any day now for honors decisions!

We are attending accepted students day on March 2. Really looking forward to it! Anyone else?

Beware there is a lot of construction on the main drag now, but the new fieldhouse/student health & wellness facility that will be ready next year will be amazing!

Congrats to everyone who’s been accepted. I wish we were making plans to attend Pitt’s admitted students’ day, but we are still waiting for a decision despite the fact that S24 applied in August. He was asked to submit mid-year grades, which were just sent last week. It’s been such a long wait! Has anyone received a decision after submitting mid-year grades yet?

We are on the waiting list. Applied late October, deferred and now waitlist. It took a good 3 weeks to hear back after submitting 1st semester grades. Not expecting to hear more until after May 1 and they see how many acceptances come in. I think this process has been harder on me as parent than when I applied to college as a kid.

My son applied about 10/31 and was asked to submit mid-year grades, which he sent in about Feb 3. About 2 days ago the “to-do” action went away. Fingers crossed for admittance or at least a quick(er) decision.

Good luck! I think it took us at least two weeks after the to do button disappeared to hear an answer. This sure is a waiting game!

Same here we submitted early Feb and waiting. Good luck to your child.

Hopefully Pitt Honors results come out today or sometime soon. Last year it came out on Feb 21 at 4pm based on old thread.

Hoping, too! I looked back a few years to see if there were certain days of the week that Pitt favored for this, but didn’t see any trend.

When can we expect any type of merit notice? I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything yet. We are in state - DS accepted to Business school. Thoughts?

In state merit appears tough this cycle. But it is an ongoing process so in theory it could still happen.

Merit is awarded any time after acceptance, from October 1 through March 1.

To give a specific example of how it might work. We are in state. Daughter was admitted October 20. Received merit letter (in portal) on November 7. Received new merit offer on Feb 22 that replaced original merit (big time gap!). That of course means the original merit offered goes back in the pool to be distributed I imagine. But obviously there was a huge time lag there. Hope that helps understand how it might work.

Redistribution of Merit is never $ for $. Merit is given out with the knowledge that they will only end up giving out a specific % because x% of students will go elsewhere. It’s a little like airlines - they frequently overlook flights with the knowledge that there will be some people who turn up for the flight.

Your daughter was awarded a
Larger amount of merit than she was
Previously awarded?? If that’s the case—Amazing!!!

My son got $20k each year but unfortunately he has to turn it down.

I guess that makes sense. So you think that there is just a long timeline for merit because Pitt is rolling admissions? Irregardless, our experience was that the merit came a few weeks after admission. Daughter was not sent a letter. It just showed up as a notice in her portal.

Does anyone think honors decisions will be released tomorrow? Historically around what time are they released?
