University of Pittsburgh Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

My daughter’s status also says “pending”. Above that it says “Plan: Undeclared”, which is a little worrisome. Because she applied for biological sciences. Do any of your children’s app status sections also say this?? :grimacing:

Yep, we’ve got “plan undeclared” even though he named a major. I feel like somewhere else I saw the major listed, so somehow it showed both plan undeclared and the major… which makes no sense. But I decided that I wouldn’t worry about “plan undeclared” because everything that seemed to need a check mark had a check mark.

My son’s also says Undeclared, but he applied Undecided to Pitt, so it didn’t look odd to me.

OK. Thank you. We will just wait and try to chill out.

My daughter’s says “plan: nursing”. I assume since she applied for the GAP Nursing program.

When you tap the tab on the left side that says accept/decline, what appears in the center of the screen?

“No information at this time”

Sorry, don’t want to confuse anyone, but here is the Fall 2025 Applicant Resources page: Fall 2025 Resources - Admissions | University of Pittsburgh

On this page, toward the bottom, there is a section called “Verifying We’ve Received Your Application Requirements” which has a link to another applicant portal: https://www.explore.pitt.edu/apply/status

This page says “Status: Awaiting Decision”

Just wanted to say that at least for me last year they didn’t start reviewing applications till September/October.

Are we thinking that there won’t be any movement until after the holiday?

Hello…I’m new to the group. My daughter applied to Pitt last week. Her portal says awaiting decision.
Do any of you know how much they consider demonstrated interest?

According to the Pitt CDS (scroll to section C7), they consider “Level of applicant’s interest” to be an “Important” factor in their consideration, though I can’t speak to exactly what that means. Maybe others can!

Wouldn’t submitting one’s application in August, that is spending their summer thinking of a school, writing the essays, and finalizing an application shortly after it’s opened, speak for demonstrated interest? Also for in- state applicants to their own public/ flagship, interest is the default for a variety of reasons, I thought.

Also, it’s my personal experience that youngsters learn to love a school if the school shows them love- that is why my other DC ended up attending the first school they applied to and admitted them, both public flagships, because at this age they don’t forget their first love, particularly if interest/ love is mutual. Maybe that’s why too many kids end up applying to too many schools, because they don’t get that reciprocal connection when they try to show it in the first place.

Hi all! Happy to go throught this together!

My son applied Aug 31st through common app, preferred major neuroscience.

We’re in state
Weighted GPA 3.79
ACT: 33
3 APs Junior year (Lang, Bio and Psych) received 5s on exams
2 APs scheduled senior year (Chem, Stat)
Concerned a little about rigor now that I read about kids taking 10-12 APs but everything else has been honors since freshman year.
ECs: Orchestra, drummer/percussionist, 4 years of theater (head of wardrobe) a capella, camp counselor for kids with cancer, and neuroscience pre college program

Good luck everyone!
