Nothing here. But we were more towards the middle/end of August, so I’m not surprised. I’m hoping to see something before the end of September.
My other kiddo applied a few years ago in early September and heard back in 2 weeks. Dietrich School. I suspect they have meeting dates when they go through the applications. Each school probably does it different.
I am surprised there are no decisions coming in yet even for applications that were in by first week of August
My sense having gone through this with my S24 last year is the above poster is probably right–there appear to be admissions committees who regularly meet and admit/reject people, it seems like potentially every week in the peak season. Individuals might get held over for various reasons, but at least a lot of people in a given application cohort will get decisions on the same day.
So if no one has gotten a decision yet, that likely means those committees simply have not met yet. Or perhaps the first decisions are in post-decision administrative processing, but that would probably not be much of a delay.
I think we may sign up for one of the “Blue & Gold” days in October, and then we can cancel if my child isn’t admitted. We are from California and have not yet toured the school in person. We’ve only attended the virtual events/tours so far.
Thought I’d check to see if any of our early applications have received a response yet. My son applied on 8/2 and nothing yet. Last year, acceptances started going out before labor day.
Applied 8/6. Nothing yet.
Applied 8/1 nothing yet
Applied via Pitt App 8/20
Received email to activate account 8/23
Received email that application is under review 8/23
No decision yet
Same timing for my D25
Nothing
Says application pending
Does the H2P fee waiver work again this year?
I can’t believe that there have been no decisions yet! I wonder if that will affect the usual October 1 day for merit to start being awarded.
Thank you.
It worked for us!
I’m completely shocked that no decisions have come out yet. It’s concerning
Older Pitt parent here. I’ve been watching Pitt admissions since 2016 and this is the first year that acceptances have not come out right away. I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about. Obviously most of you are getting in(most likely all of you since people here tend to be higher stats). It just seems they have changed their process this year. Try to be patient.
I also think there are lot of applicants who apply early because they think they’re on the bubble for getting in because they don’t have a sky high GPA. So they apply early because everyone (including the university) tells them it will increase their chances of getting in. It’s just so weird that nothing has come out yet.
And this is why @alda i’m thinking they are now waiting to be able to compare the early applicants so that they can be more discerning. This allows Pitt to raise their stats even higher, right? It’s my hypothesis right now.
Or, just a huge glitch somewhere in the system?
@Winky1 I tend to think you’re probably right.
We have been through this once before. In August 2018 my oldest child applied on the first day the application was open. On September 12, 2018 he was admitted. He had a 1480, 4.0 and was an Eagle Scout, Varsity athlete, etc. So i would guess many of us will start hearing decisions at the end of this week.
I was told by someone who works at the School, that they have a new system and are a little delayed this year.
Thank you for this info!!!
Hopefully we will all hear soon.
