University of Pittsburgh Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

In regard to honors, does anyone know if they take into account the whole application or just review the honors essay to determine acceptance into honors program?

It is the whole application, but they emphasize the essay is important.

Hi! I’m a prospective Pitt student (Accepted OOS for neuroscience!!). I’ve been checking my Document Center for merit scholarships in the MyPitt website daily, but for some reason yesterday it disappeared from my home screen. Is this happening for others or is it an issue on my end? Is there any other way to view merit other than via Document Center/My Pitt website?

Same here. S25 OOS accepted to Swanson. We can no longer see the document center and I also tried to search for it. It did not come up. Maybe they have deleted that app. Hoping for merit scholarship too!

Are we the only ones still waiting here? Application complete September 23rd, still says awaiting decision. My son emailed admissions last week and they said we’d hear by the end of the week. I know it’s only Wednesday so holding my breath but honestly not sure we’ll hear by Friday.

My S25 is still waiting. However, his application was in October.

Congrats!! Would you mind sharing your stats: GPA, Test Optional - Yes/No - if No, what was your score, any AP classes, extra curriculars, etc. TIA!

Any rhyme or reason to when acceptances come in for Pitt? Time of day? Day of the week?

Previous postings - usually around 7 pm - I think anywhere between 7 pm and 7:30 pm email is received and/or portal is updated. No specific day - could be each day or every few days. Good luck!

Thanks to this group for all your support and a reminder to all that long wait is not necessarily bad news! My son was admitted last night after an 8 week wait :tada:.

It is really true . . . it is not bad news until you actually get bad news! Anyway, congratulations!

Hi! I’m a prospective student as well, accepted for biochem, did you do anything extra to be considered for the merit scholarship stuff? Just wondering if there’s anything I might be missing.

Admitted students are automatically considered for merit $$$. Some get $$ early on, some not til March. Many many get no merit $$ at all. All you can do is be patient.

My daughter was accepted back in September and just received notifiation of a merit scholarship last evening in her Portal. She is in-state, TO 3.6UW admitted to Dietrich for Pre-health intended major. 8k merit scholarship (2k per year) She was not expecting any merit being in state, without SAT or high stats so a very nice surprise!
