Some Honors acceptances went out a couple weeks ago as part of a “pilot”. See up in this thread.
Some went out the 1st week of Dec this year.
My senior received their 3+3 acceptance for law back in October but we haven’t been notified of any merit yet. It’s very frustrating because they offered a great, dual program but no merit?
My son was also asked to send in fall grades. It doesn’t look like he was deferred, they will just wait for his grades, but I am not totally sure, as I did not send the email myself. I think this could go either way for my S. His grades are good this semester, but I just have no idea how it will pan out. I did receive both emails from Pitt, but those were the first I had ever received.
The same thing happened with U Delaware and when he logs into that portal it still shows that he will receive a decision by 1/31.
He certainly has Pitt as a top choice.. he kind of is eyeing the Honors College and was really excited about the interview… so his wheels are really spinning and he’s getting excited for Pitt HC and bonus would be STAMPS/Nordenberg.
Note I think you’re right the interview was for Stamps / Nordenberg. As a parent we oversee but don’t get too much in the details. We let them navigate… but b/c I’m 30+ years removed… I come to these forums to learn. Now I’m actually hopeful based on the 1 of 72 comment. Meaning, I previously thought maybe 1000 kids were selected for a ZOOM interview. But with the info you provided, I’m thinking well there’s a chance… still a very small chance…
There is a 1 in 72 chance! And if invited to campus, 1 in 34. Those odds are great for a full ride. Good luck. You may want to find the Stamps threads out there on CC. Great info on them!
My son’s acceptance just arrived. We hadn’t gotten to withdraw this app yet…He got accepted into his ED #1 on Friday night…so
Congrats to your son!
Thank you…
Super helpful! I have no idea how to navigate… is there a specific STAMPS Pitt thread? or just STAMPS?
Got link?
Thanks for all the updates and info here! Just wanted to report my kiddo’s timeline (out of state):
Application under review: 11/14
Accepted: 12/16
Admitted to Dietrich with GAP for Public & International Affairs
Hey all! Is anyone who applied in late October still waiting for a decision? My son applied 10/30 and app was under review as of 11/4, but still no word. Is this typical? Applied to the school of business. Thanks for any input!
How does UPitt let you know if they’re offering merit? Letter or email?
My son applied 10/31 and we haven’t heard either.
10/25 business, still waiting
Your student gets an email that there has been a status update to the Portal for merit notification. Same type of notification as when the admit decision comes in to check the Portal. There will be a scholarship letter there in addition to the decision letter
Yes, same late October and have not heard. May move on from this one if we don’t hear this week, as we have a couple other options that came out.
My daughter participated in the first round Zoom interview for Stamps and Nordenberg in late October. She had two interviewers: one male and one female. She said they were impossible to read.
No Honors acceptance yet, but she received a $5k/year in state merit offer in November. She submitted her Honors essay separately from her Common App. Doubtful that she will proceed to the in person interviews, because she received the merit award letter a couple of weeks after the Zoom interview.
So far I’ve only encountered OOS students who were part of the HC early acceptance. I don’t know anyone in state who received an early HC decision. Maybe they are out there and just haven’t said anything yet.
I think the merit award and Stamp/Nordenberg process are totally separate. Stamps/Nordenberg also is not based on GPA and Scores and Stats the way Honors College and merit awards are. Sure, they’re important, but are not the driving force for those scholarships. Rather, the potential for domestic and international leadership.
