I just saw your post and checked my email. I have one too. Texting my daughter at school to check her portal, hoping it’s a definite acceptance.
Applied 10/16, TO, OOS, Pre-PA interest. She’s passed 8 weeks since setting up Portal so checking daily. Still nothing. Received an email about resources during the holiday but no decision yet. We told her not to pick a favorite school, but this is top 3 for her. The waiting is tough while we hear friends getting accepted.
Let me know what you find because my son is not budging. I should have never let him take 4 years of debate! Its a nightmare!
yup, holiday email received too
S25 also received email, no decision.
My daughter was accepted yesterday and I did get the email. But in reading the email, it sounds like a generic email just letting people know holiday schedule and info about the application process, etc. Seems generic to both applicants and those accepted.
Also, my daughter got an email regarding her acceptance before she checked the portal. So they do send an email.
DS accepted 12/12 Swanson School of Engineering. Applied end of October, but had a bad code for no app fee and a few weeks later checked his portal and it said to submit payment and official test scores.
Do all Honors College acceptances receive academic merit awards? My daughter is in-state and applied test optional back in August, she did not apply for Honors College. Admitted 9/23 and received her merit award 11/26. I do see that upper level students can also apply for Honors College so it may be something she can consider in the future. Does anyone know if merit could or would be increased with Honors College acceptance in a subsequent term if she pursued and accepted to Honors College as a sophomore?
I’m guessing no, merit is a bribe to entice students to accept their offer, there is no benefit for Pitt to offer more money to a sophomore.
Pitt does not automatically give Merit to those in the Honors college. My daughter was in but did not receive any merit. I have never heard of someone receiving additional merit after freshman year. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen but I’ve had two kids attend and haven’t heard of it.
Thank you!
My daughter is OOS and received an early acceptance offer to the Honors College (she applied when she submitted her initial application) and so far, her merit award has not been increased.
When does merit show w/ acceptance letter or it comes after?
Son applied to Deitrich OOS mid-October, got word on 11/27 that they wanted to see his first semester senior grades. Not surprised, as he’s probably coin-tossy and I think this reflected that reality.
Any rough idea what the chances are of people who receive this designation being accepted? His high school does block scheduling so while his current grades are all A’s, they’re also mostly electives this semester. Also, how long is the wait typically once you send the fall grades in?
Also today I got a holiday email from Pitt Admissions apologizing for bad info in a prior email last week. Only odd because I A) didn’t receive the prior email and B) it was the first email I ever received from Pitt Admissions.
Wondering whether anyone’s kid has rd r toy received early admission to the honors college, or if those have all gone out?
DS25 accepted rolling admission to Pitt. Has not heard from Pitt Honors College, but was asked to interview for the Nordenberg Leadership Scholarship which occurred the first week of December (apparently give to 5 students… and suspect the odds of getting this are much less than flipping a coin b/c its mostly about how does one resonate with the one person who asked a few questions for 20 minutes).
Congrats. Any stats? Must be through the roof impressive as general understanding (mine only, not a fact, cautionary tale) is that HC are mostly targeted to retain in state kiddos.
All Honors college acceptances go out on the same day. I believe it is in late Feb.
@dadofboys3 Was your son’s interview specifically only for the Nordenberg? Or was it the first Zoom interview for the Stamps and Nordenberg? My D22 is currently a Stamps Scholar at Pitt, and im curious if they have changed their procedure.
Your son is 1 of 72 that was selected from thousands of applicants for the Zoom interview. From there approx. 32 will be invited to campus for the in person interview experience. From there approx 5 Stamps and 5 Nordenberg Scholars will be chosen.
While the stakes are high and the shot is a long one, 5 kids get a free ride + study abroad and 5 get full tuition + study abroad. Congrats to him and I hope he advances if he wants Pitt. A very big deal.
