University of Pittsburgh Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

Congratulations! My S25 is waiting to hear for Economics. Would you mind sharing her stats?

Of course. OOS with 1380 SAT and 8 APs, 4 completed (two 4’s and two 5s) and 4 this year. taking AP stats and regular calc rn. (Small public school so no such thing as honors.) Hard to do GPA since VT uses a proficiency based grading scale not easily converted to a traditional gpa, but it seems to convert to all As and A-s. 4 Yrs of Spanish- she’s hoping to do some kind of Latin American Studies certificate.

All the best to your son…hopefully you’ll have good news v soon!

S25 was accepted to Swanson a few months ago and is very excited about the possibility of attending Pitt. Now it’s decision time! For those of you who attended one of the Blue and Gold days this past summer and one of the accepted student events this fall, how different are they? We live about 3 hours east of Pittsburgh so we can easily attend an accepted student event, but if it is just repeat of the Blue and Gold day it may not be worth it. TIA for any information shared!

We live a similar distance from Pitt. We attended a summer Blue & Gold Day, & my spouse & child went to a December Accepted Students’ Day. They did not feel like it was a repeat, & both thought it was well worth their time. My child talked more with students & professors at Accepted Students’ Day, & also got to speak with the marching band director. It felt more personal that Blue & Gold Days.

Congrats! My daughter and husband attended B&G day in August before she applied and then we brought all of our kids to the Admitted Students day she attended end of Oct. My daughter and husband raved about the B&G day, I thought the admitted students day was well run and organized; we skipped the tour portions that were a repeat from B&G but admitted students broke down by admitted school so we attended the Dietrich session and the reception back in Alumni hall after was nice with snacks and candy buffet and lots of Pathfinders walking around and making smalltalk/answering Qs for admitted students and families. I’d say if he’s interested in Pitt it’s worth attending even if you’ve already done the B&G day.

Thank you so much. I’m glad to hear it was worthwhile and they were able to talk to professors and students.

Thank you for sharing! I’m glad to hear the accepted student visit is worthwhile. I’d like him to take a second look before committing! Personally, I’m sold at the mention of the candy buffet :yum:

Anyone else still waiting? S25 applied in mid October, SRAR processed 10/26. OOS, Undecided to Dietrich. Just checked the portal again and it still says Awaiting a Decision. We have not visited yet, and my son is losing interest, to be honest.

Yes, still waiting. I think my son lost interest in it, at least it seems for the moment. But if we get a positive reply before the Feb decisions on other three schools we’re waiting to hear from, which are his top three, then we’ll definitely go for a visit to campus.

We’re still waiting from October too! Assuming my son is sitting in a ā€œmaybeā€ pile. Thankfully he’s gotten into other schools that he’s excited about but it would be nice to have an answer.

Anyone else with the ā€œpilotā€ early notification for Dietrich/Honors receive an email for meet & greet invite? It says 161 students received early notification of honors admission in SAS.

Do you think spots will open back up for the Feb admitted students days closer to the date? We would prefer a Feb date instead of the March date we are signed up for. Right now the Feb dates are full.

I would keep checking. People’s schedules will change and they will cancel.

Still waiting? We are too. Test-optional?

Still waiting as well and applied TO.

My son heard tonight-

Applied 11/17- Admitted letter posted 1/10 (History)

That’s great. I’ll give it another week and then suggest maybe he can check in with his counselor on the portal. He tells me right away if he gets a status email on an application and I have access, but I’m letting him do the asking and emailing questions. That is, if he is still interested.
