It seems that this is the time last year when decisions started to roll in. From the Class of 2028 threads, I see that the Accept/Decline buttons were visible as early as 8/24/2023 (but also on the 26th, 28th, and 30th).
Here’s the general timeline:
1.) Application status changes from “Pending” to “Complete”. Accept/Decline buttons were visible. (PeopleSoft Dashboard: Admissions > Application Status)
2.) 1-3 days later, acceptance letter was available in the Document Center
3.) At least a day later (but possibly more), an email was sent asking applicant to check the Document Center for an update.
Here’s the timeline for my applicant so far:
8/1/24: Submitted application (University of Pittsburgh Application, not Common App). Also completed SRAR and all required information.
8/6/24 2:55: Thanks for applying. Activate your account.
8/6/24 3:05: Received and verified all required docs. Moving to Under Review. Decision in 6-8 weeks.
Did anyone hear back? Some kids are posting on the Class of 2029 Insta page but I’m guessing those are students who took a gap year. Good luck to all! Post GPA and scores and which school. Daughter is 3.8 uw, test optional, business.
My S25 sent in his common app 8/21, and we thought the SRAR had gone as well… it didn’t. We figured that out and it got transmitted 8/23. Today (8/26) he got the link to activate his account. He’s applying to Arts and Sciences as a urban planning major and we’re from out of state. He’s got a 4.0 and a 35 ACT.
Is access to this portal passport.pitt.edu sent to applicants separately after applying? D25 only logs into explore.pitt.edu where it has a checklist of items marked as Received, but we don’t see anything about being under review or any document center.
About 5 days after applying and providing all application items, my student received an email to activate a separate account. Once all application items have been provided and the application is in “Under Review” / “Pending” status, I think attention shifts to the Document Center and PeopleSoft Dashboard for decision information.
I don’t think the communication is super clear, but I’ve picked up this info from previous years in this forum.
Okay, verified that she is logging into passport.pitt.edu via an account opened after applying. And she did get the email saying her application was complete and going under review. But I was confused because her portal page itself doesn’t show anything saying Pending or Under Review (just shows the checklist being all complete) and there is no Document Center. Thanks for clarifying.
There was no separate email or link sent about the PeopleSoft/document center portal. Following the links in the top
Post here I was able to login, see her status as “pending” and see where the buttons should (hopefully) appear.

You are right. Using the links provided by the original poster above got us to the portal to see what everyone is talking about. She has been using a link from one of the emails so she was seeing something different. So confusing. Thanks all.

I’m remembering this now from when my older (HS class of 22) son applied to Pitt. Their portal and system seems appreciably more confusing than other schools. I think it’s because they have applicant stuff living in the same place as actual student stuff, and they don’t seem to just send a link to Go Look Here. It’s figure-out-able, but not intuitive.
Thank you, @jeanyo , you seasoned Pitt lover!!! Lol. That Peoplsoft link is awesome! I just clicked it, saw my S25’s account. Under Admissions Section say the words Accept/Decline Admissions with a check mark. I click that and it says “No Information at this time”
The tell tale for this, is when you click that tab on the left, and the center screen pops up with “buttons” for accept or decline…you know you are in. That usually happens a few days before the documents are uploaded, and then email sent FYI Good luck to all!
Yes, but that’s just saying you have selected that page. Right now, that page shows “No information at this time.” If you click on Application Status, the check mark will be next to that, and right now, that page shows “Pending” as the status.
