last year my D25 applied in early october, admitted early november…didn’t hear about honors until february 12. she was admitted comp sci and FHC. merit came late march/early april.

My daughter got in 2024 for nursing and at that time it seemed like big releases were Tuesday nights after 7pm. She didn’t received any merit so she declined spot.

Merit and honors can def come later, usually do I think. Tell me about rough draft?!? Did you do that on accident? How?

Thank you for your information. The essay was not an accident - I submitted the version that I had at the time, which was far from an excellent essay, fearing that submitting the application too later time might be more detrimental than having an average essay (which is not true). Moreover, Pitt is my “safety” - thus I did not spend that much time on the application and possessed the (incorrect) mindset of just go through the process and experience the complete logistics of a full application, which I now regret to a significant extent. That said, it was not a horrible essay that would destroy the overall application, but definitely not helping it.

My kid did something similar, although Pitt is definitely not a safety for her. She was required to write a college essay as summer homework for her English class, and will get feedback from her teacher when the assignment is graded. Rather than wait for teacher feedback (which she still has not received), she decided to go ahead and submit the summer draft with her Pitt application in August. I still think it was the right call. She is applying to an impacted major, and Pitt has been clear that, at least with that major, the earlier the better. Plus, she submitted test scores, so the essay was optional. Hopefully, you both get good news soon!

where do you see that
student emailed her admissions counselor since they are over the 6 week mark. Got a response application is still in final review and thank you for your patience. Not sure if that’s good or bad

I was told Final Review means a decision has been made and it’s just waiting to be released. They do a final sweep each night before emails get sent. Hope you get good news tonight!!

We just checked the portal and see an acceptance. No email yet. Out of state. Computer Science. Application submitted via Common App on 8/11. Completed on 8/28. Wishing everyone else good luck for tonight.
