I was thinking the opposite as well. Finalists are notified Feb 1. RD decisions are Apr 1. Wouldn’t make sense to consider for scholars if being deferred. Hoping it means admission.

Do we know that finalists come out on February 1st or is it just that it comes out by then? They usually come out the day EA comes out, so I’m guessing it comes out tomorrow

Where are finalist decisions typically announced? Within the acceptance letter or listed separately?
for international students at least there is a precedent of richmond deferring them and then admitting them if they manage to go through the subsequent rounds of richmond scholars and get the scholarship.

Not entirely sure, but people have gotten emails telling them in the past to check for an update on their portal or just straight up that they’re a finalist.

The “You are being Considered for Richmond Scholars” is gone from my daughter’s portal (was there before), and she has NOT been notified one way or the other. Just FYI.
