Accepted with presidential scholarship!
How much is the presidential scholarship usually?
I saw 22k somewhere
Do need and merit stack here, or do they take the merit scholarships out of your need??
I just read on the site itās 1/3 tuition.
Son in with presidential which makes it a good option.
DD was deferred. SMUās Direct Admit to Cox is looking better and better right now.
This is where my son is thinking as well.
My daughter got in, but there was no mention of merit money. Is any merit money given after acceptances?
Son accepted no merit mentioned.
4.63 WGPA (first 3 years), over 4.7 if you count this year
31 ACT
8 APs (3 junior year, 5 senior year)
ECs: School Ambassador (private catholic college prep hs), Peer Leader, NHS Officer, summer job
State: NJ
Can folks who received the presidential scholarship post their test scores or if they went test optional. I am curious if we would have been better of going TO.
Not sure if we can swing full price and be this far from home.
My child also got in, also no mention of merit. 4.6 WGPA, 35 ACT, 8 completed APs (all with scores of 5), 4 APs in progress in senior year, lots of volunteer hours at one organization (weekly since freshman year), nationally competitive in a niche sport, plays an instrument and has leadership roles related to that, as well as in debate, member of NHS. Hoping no merit means that possibly Richmond Scholars is still on the table? I havenāt read of anyone being notified of Richmond Scholars yet. Or, I could just be kidding myself.
Hmm, seems like your child would be in the top 10% of admitted applicants. So I hope you are right amount being in the running for Scholars which is why you havenāt heard about merit.
Although to me it would make sense to offer the presidential now and mention that you are in the running for Scholars.
My child got presidential. 1570 SAT
I would assume with these stats that your child will get a Richmond Scholar Finalist notification. I think because we got presidential we are not in the running for Richmond.
I got presidential with 1510/4.0
Big public school in TX, 9APs, unique/interesting ECs, especially natāl level musician
Son accepted with presidential scholarship.
4.0uw/4.7+w
35ACT
8 APs (5 this year) - all 5ās so far
Lots of ECās with leadership. Sports, volunteer, student offices, work, clubsā¦
State: MA
Did anyone get a Presidential Scholarship without submitting test scores?
Just found out we apparently did not submit our ACT. So correction on that. Now Iām curious if anyone got the Presidential going TO.
Deferred with 4.7W (3.9UW), 34ACT (35 math/sci), great ECs and long work history, thoughtful essays and lots of interest/visit (I know they say they donāt measure DI).
This was a top choice for DD who is pretty dejected, but I think goes to show how random it can be.
Last year my S24 (international student) got the Presidential scholarship while going test optional- 4.0 GPA in British Curriculum.
Regarding stacking scholarship and need-based aid- Yes, Richmond does stack both.
Happy to answer any questions I can about student life etc, congrats to all admitted and commiserations to those who didnāt make it: Iām sure thereās great options out there for everyone!
Itās definetely a somewhat random process, and luck plays a big role. Deferral is not necessarily the end though- my son was deferred then accepted with Presidential (though international needing aid, which might be a little different)ā¦
