University of Richmond Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admission

Thank you. No, not necessarily the end, but worse odds then before and time to move on mentally/emotionally.

Anyone hear anything about Richmond Scholar yet?

Last year, they sent richmond scholar notifications out with EA decisions. I don’t think they’re doing that this year, though. From looking at last year’s thread, it seems like
a) those who received a Presidential scholarship are not excluded from receiving a Richmond Semifinalist notification, in fact, all who are named semifinalist receive a presidential scholarship
b) they sent out notifications, and then posted on https://scholars.richmond.edu/ that all semifinalist notifications were out.
c) many on cc received scholars notification, but nobody here or anywhere else I’ve heard has received the notification yet

so, I suspect they have not sent out the semifinalists. don’t lose hope if you’ve received a Presidential scholarship (or if you haven’t!), and check your portals regularly

On the Richmond Scholar page, it says “All Richmond Scholar finalists have been notified via the Spider Portal.” Was this there last week/in the past or is this new for this years finalists?

I think it’s new because I think I looked last week. Nothing for us in the portal but we weren’t expecting anything. Congrats to those who were chosen!

As an update, my child did not receive notification that they are a finalist for the Richmond scholar. So, we’re pleased they were accepted, but a little surprised and disappointed there was no money at all given based on their stats/achievements.

Do you mind sharing your child’s stats?

4.0/4.6, 35 ACT (one sitting), completed 8 APs, 5s on all, currently taking 4 APs. All other classes taken in school have been honors classes (very rigorous classes). Competes in a niche sport year round and is nationally competitive, has volunteered many, many hours at one not for profit since freshman year, plays an instrument and holds leadership roles related to that, leadership roles in debate, member of NHS. There’s other stuff, but that’s it in a nutshell. But I see kids with similar stats who were deferred, so we are at least thankful for the acceptance.

My son was very excited to be accepted EA to Richmond. He has a 1520, a 4.61, 19 AP/post-AP classes, community service, clubs two varsity sports, and one of the captains of the lacrosse team. His acceptance letter did not mention any merit scholarships. He has looked in his emails and the portal for any scholarship info, but he can’t find anything. I am assuming he did not receive anything, but I am hoping there is a chance he receives something. Does anyone know if you are notified separately? He is trying to evaluate his options. Thank you. Good luck to all!

Merit comes in the acceptance letter, I was notified of my merit with the acceptance. If you’re a Richmond Scholar, you get a separate notification, but those are already out

Same here. S25 accepted, but with zero merit. Stats very similar to yours:
4.0/4.54 GPA
35 ACT (one sitting)
6 APs tested, 6 in senior year. All are serious APs, not Gov and Environmental.
State ranked in varsity sport two years in a row. Team captain.
Tons of hours of service, good essays

I am guessing the major(s) selected have a big part in the decision and merit.
Congrats to all accepted. Best of luck with your choices.

Accepted EA with Presidential
4.0 UW GPA, 4.5 W GPA
35 ACT, school doesn’t rank
10 AP/DE plus coursework through another external program
ECs: varsity and club sport, club and activities leadership, volunteer hours, attended an international conference, research project

Has anyone who was accepted EA received anything in the mail from Richmond?

We’ve received three separate acceptance envelopes! The first one had Wecome to the Class of 2028! :joy: Then we got two more that had the right year. They did send an email
apologizing for the mistake.

Lol, maybe you got my kid’s envelope because they have received nothing. The other EA school they got into has sent a ton of emails and snail mail. So odd.

Sounds like it was a little bumpy this year! :joy:

Just looked through my son’s pile and nothing.
