Instagram says they’ve been released, but no email yet for my daughter. Do the emails have merit/FA info?

My son got an email around 3 today. No mention of merit aide…

Has anyone received anything about merit?

My daughter’s email did not have anything about merit/FA

D24 waitlisted. Kind of surprised - 4.2 GPA, strong leadership and ECs, strong LORs, strong demonstrated interest and has been admitted to schools with lower acceptance rates. I guess you never know. She is sad - would be been a contender if had come through with merit aid as she really loved the school. Congrats to those who got in!

DD accepted. University of San Diego Alcalá Award recipient. $28,000 per year award. Very thankful and blessed. Received it in a second email. Tough decision since she received a $42,000 scholarship to the University of Portland and $40,000 from Chapman. Good opportunities. She will have a difficult decision to make as she waits for UCs and some other private colleges.

Congrats! My daughter got 2 emails and the second one said “Admissions update” but had no new info. Guessing she did not receive any merit.

That is surprising. Happy to hear she has other options and I’m sure she will be a great asset wherever she lands!

Although no guarantee, definitely send your LOCI. My son was also waitlisted a few years ago and eventually did get accepted from USD.

Does anyone know how the scholarships work with financial aid?

My DD was accepted! No mention of merit. Top 10% /495, WGPA 4.48. I guess I shouldn’t care as she has accepted an offer from her #1 university. But wondering what you needed to get merit.

Same here.

Same here, processing the waitlist decision as well. Had an excellent application and really loved the campus. It was definitely her first choice. Found it interesting that there is a deadline of May 15 to submit your request to stay on the waitlist. This is past most university commit dates and also the same day for USD commitment. The way I read that is that we have no choice but pay a deposit elsewhere and choose a different school. Should she be lucky enough to come off the waitlist, we would need to forfeit our other school deposit(s). Seems to be a way to whittle down the waitlist.

My D24 put herself on the waitlist and will send a LOCI, but we’re encouraging her to mentally move on. Ugh.

My DD was also waitlisted. 4.3 gpa, captain of soccer team, heavily involved in campus leadership, etc. Not everyone can get in and many times it has nothing to do with qualifications. There is a formula for every school - especially the small private schools. Congrats to all that have been accepted :). There is school for everyone!

Also, admissions counselors admit that many schools waitlist “overqualified” kids because they believe they will choose someplace else in the end. Best of luck to all
