Hopefully she will get in. There is a still a good chance for her
Hi I’m applying to uofsc and it is my top choice. I initially applied to the business school, but after finding out the major was so competitive I decided to apply undecided.
I have a 3.9 GPA (5 APs) with an 1120 SAT
Although my score is low, I do have other qualities in my application such as, being a student representative/ liaison for my school, outstanding community service award, top ten at states for DECA, attended a business camp, networked with businesses and interned with a few of them over the summer, NHS, SHS, board position for Habitat for Humanity and DECA and also participate in other community service and had a good supplemental on character.
I got deferred from USC but do I still have a good chance of getting in? How much weight do they put on SAT scores? And will my extra curricular activities help?
Was the school specific as to the amount of the award. My D is OOS as well and in the acceptance letter she was told she would get at least $40k over 4 years. What it really means is something we are still waiting for find out.
@maxwell0791 Thats the minimum you will get. It all based on test scores and GPA. If you go to the website on the OOS scholarship page you can see the stats from last year
I just got an email that merit scholarship info is now on S’s portal. He’s working so we all have to wait.
My D just got her scholarship email. We’re OOS and she got the In State reduction + $2,000 per year. That was exactly what it showed on the scholarship chart for her GPA and SAT score.
My S got $40k over 4 years, a step lower than how his stats line up with last year’s scholarship chart, but the same amount that was the “at least” amount promised in the admission letter. Also, he was offered Capstone.
My son was invited to Capstone but only received an additional $5k per year over the $10k minimum in the EA letter. We live in Maryland and he was admitted to College Park. That amount from SC doesn’t get us close to SC in state numbers, which we would need for him to even consider enrolling at SC over Maryland. Maryland is $23k in state & ranked higher for engineering. And like NC Mom these amounts from SC are a step lower (at least) than how his stats lined up with last year.
