SC just emailed decisions out tomorrow
I do appreciate them saying if you are deferred they then go look through all of your other accomplishments/essay/ECās. Although if they looked at those in the first place I think he would be a lock
Right? I was kind of hoping they would look at this up front. So if they are not looking at that up front then I have to wonder what their main determining factor to getting accepted tomorrow is?
If it is only GPA, I fully expect a deferralā¦UGH.
I am thinking the exact same thing and it is frustrating. Worried they are looking at only test scores/gpa which is annoying. Some schools are super transparent that that is all they look at (Auburn for example) but when others make it sound like essays are an afterthought if you are deferred I worryā¦but I like to worry about stuff and drive myself crazy
Thanks for info. very helpful.
Do you know if irt was weeks or days after EA decision to know about Honors College & merit?
Our GPA is a 4.0 uw and a 4.3 w but we did TO so not sure how that effects their decisions
SAME here!
It was a few weeks or so, but this was a few years ago, so it could be different now!
I thought in the admission letter that thereās a statement like āYou will be receiving merit at least equivalent to X to be confirmed later.ā
USC then communicates what the final number is later, ie. in late March if I remember correctly.
But I thought the admission did indicate some expectation of merit. Let me know if Iām mistaken
Yes if you are definite receiving merit it will state that in the acceptance letter like āyou will be receiving at leastā¦ā. In my 2021ās case, thats exactly what she received and not a penny more. Now granted I did hear of a few that did get some money even though they were not guaranteed it in the beginningā¦but that was very very few.
Iām talking about Honors college only, not merit.
Concerned about the sameā¦
I had read somewhere that legacies (parent graduated from USC) get reduced out of state tuition and I think it is supposed to come with the lid of fees. Does anyone know how much of a reduction they give OOS legacies?
I really wish they gave legacy consideration for admissions like Clemson does.
Anyone here get into UNCG? My daughter received significant scholarships to all the schools she has heard back from but she didnāt get anything indicating any scholarship from UNCG. Anyone have insight?
When I spoke to an admissions rep, he said expect a lot of deferrals in EA. He said they had over 50k applications and that deferral isnt bad, they just need more time. He said many kids with a 4.0 will be deferred. So⦠we are super nervous!
They had 50k for EA? Holy cow !
I know there really isnāt a UNCG active thread. My kid was accepted to UNCG out of state but nothing on merit yet.
Iām guessing the 50k+ is the total applications for EA and RD since they would have all the data as of Dec 1st. They had 46k last year in total and 42k the previous year so the growth rate is continuing at a similar but high percentage.
Yes I agree! I think 50k in total!
