My son got an email on the 9th that it was coming soon, but we haven’t seen it yet.

Does anyone know when Capstone Scholars will be announced? My kiddo is really hoping to make it into the program, but we don’t really understand the process since there was not an application involved.
I just saw in informed delivery that something got sent today from USC. Probably is that.

The website says early March for Capstone. It is invite only from the University and students must have a university scholarship (along with high GPA/test scores but they do not list specifics). My daughter (sophomore at USC) was invited but my son did not send test scores this year so I think is excluded.

Did all current honors candidates receive an email welcoming them to Honors College this evening with info on orientation and registration? Wondering if it is meant to assuage those who do not get a Top Scholars invite. TS is a long shot for my D. Just curious if others have heard anything or gotten the same communication?
My daughter received an email from SCHC tonight but it did not have information regarding orientation. I’m attaching a screenshot of the text.

My daughter got an email from Honors College tonight with a preview of what to expect…Flotilla, culture, courses and study abroad. Same?

Ours is different, mainly discussing the perks of early registration. It sounds like they’re all different sales pitches. Maybe they have several different form emails they send out at random. There was nothing for us to sign up for yet, it was more like a preview of what you could expect.

We received the same email. No invitation, just informational. Didn’t occur to me that this was in lieu of Top Scholars. I think thats expected in a few days if it is to come.
This is the one that we got. Four sections with information on those Honors College areas. Nothing about orientation or registration.

Have the people who received the registration/orientation letter already put down a deposit? We have not.
Good point, yes we have put down a deposit so that would explain the different form emails. From what I gathered on old forums, TS went out weds 1/18 last year but the year prior it wasn’t until Friday 1/21. I would think invites are imminent. It is a long shot for us but would be an awesome surprise. Wishing luck to everyone.

Is this something they will get a portal update on either way or only if chosen? I can’t keep up with it all.
There is so much to keep up with!! It seems on last year’s forum, those who were chosen received an email to check their portal for an update. About a week later, some people on the forum received notification emails that they were not chosen for TS. Others received no notification either way so maybe they were in the standby line if initial recipients didn’t accept the offer. This is speculation.

We also did not put down a deposit since we are waiting for some late Jan EA results. Are you still able to be chosen for TS if you are not committed to the school yet or do they only choose from those committed?
We haven’t yet as we are waiting on some additional info. Didn’t occur to me that you’d have to commit (put down a deposit) in order to be considered for Top Scholars. If so, guess my daughter won’t be invited 
Kelly4me’s question about the deposit was regarding an email I brought up earlier in the thread. My honors email was different because we put a deposit down, but we don’t think that indicates anything one way or the other. I’m almost positive you don’t have to have a deposit down to be chosen as a TS. If anything, not having a deposit down might give you a slight edge because they can use TS to entice your talented student who probably has a host of other great opportunities to consider.
