I would assume if you weren’t invited then you’re not a top contender so even if you get an invitation in a couple days, you’re part of the 2nd wave (and behind the 1st wave kids)??
Feb 24-26th for out of state, the prior weekend for in state. It runs from Saturday through Monday and you have to be there all three days.
My in-state kid got a TS invite yesterday. I’m pretty sure they all went out at the same time.
Perhaps, but I’ll happily take any merit in any wave. No clue if this was holistic or stats driven, but any being considered are likely very similar at the end of the day.
It is holistic, definitely not just stats. They also seem to like to spread out the awards geographically and demographically.
For in-state TS do you also have until 1/23 to accept or decline? Did anyone chosen for TS apply test optional?
Yes, 1/23 is the deadline for the in-state weekend as well. My kid submitted test scores.
Do y’all think all invitations have already been sent out?
We are OOS. My daughter applied test optional. She has a 4.0 unweighted but her test scores were not in that range I kept seeing, although they were very good. Maybe it was a mistake not to submit. She didn’t get an invite but has been accepted to Honors.
I’m disappointed as her ECs and service are really great!
Thats a long time to be there. Wonder what they are doing for 3 days?
They do interviews because they give out anywhere from 10-20k a year to top scholars. The top scholars compete through the interviews
Can those who did get top scholars this year tell us about your academic and extracurricular profiles?
Amy insights into when deferred students will get a decision?
UoSC’s deferral letter typically says March. Looking at last year’s deferral thread (below), a flurry of EA deferral decisions came out Feb 28, and those trickled in through March.
Well, I hacked into my sons email lol. And I found an email from Jan 9th that said Cocky is working to fulfull his t-shirt request and it will be on its way soon. So thats promising lol. Every day I ask my son if he has any new emails and every day he says nothing important. Clearly we havent different ideas.
Just know that you are not alone
My OOS son (Kentucky) got a Top Scholar on Friday. He is extremely excited!
My daughter is a current sophomore in the HC studying International Business and Finance at Darla Moore. She is an Alumni and Provost scholar (not top scholar). She has truly loved her experiences at South Carolina. The HC has offered her great opportunities, small classes, and amazing advising help as she has navigated AP credits, plans for travel abroad, acceptance to the Finance Scholars program, etc. We can’t say enough great things about her college experiences so far.
Has anyone that has been accepted already requested to change major? Or know how hard it is or when that could be done?
i requested a major change from global studies to international studies and it was approved within a couple days
could be because it was very similar majors but it was not difficult at all
Did you put in a request to your AO or to the dept head?
