The one clue that is likely not a clue is that they have on their website under housing that housing applications open on Dec 12th…so naturally, I read into this that they have to let us OOS ppl know by then…

Does South Carolina have a housing shortage where you have to deposit for housing immediately?

You can’t do a housing deposit without first putting in an enrollment deposit.

There is a really good chance it is sometime next week.
Last year it was Wednesday, December 14.
And the year before it was Monday, December 13.
So fingers crossed for Monday-Wednesday of this week, Dec 11-13.

Has anyone tried calling the Admissions office to ask if it’s this week? I am afraid because at this juncture we have 5/6 potentially coming this week… UGH
The wait is brutal. It would be so nice if they would let us know today since the housing portal opens tomorrow. However, they may be just trying to give the in state students first dibs on housing. And if thats the case then they will probably release to OOS on Wednesday is my guess. But geez Im tired of guessing! We want to know. Please keep us updated if anyone calls or gets any info!

I just called and spoke to someone in admissions . She repeated mid December and that they don’t have an exact date yet . So I then said “ so potentially it could be any day this week “ . To which she replied “ yes mid December “.
She said there was a major increase in applications this year !

Well Clemson sent out emails with the exact date and time - Dec 14th at 6pm if memory serves. It’s been awhile since my son applied 4 years ago but there was no heads up from USC, just an email and portal update. And yes, mid December but I do think it was during the week and not a late Friday thing.
Last year they released Dec 14th at 3:54:)

How does housing work? Is it first come first served? Are admitted students expected to choose a dorm this early on?

Going by this theory my guess is we might see something on Dec 13 (day after tomorrow)

Does anyone know if they invite all applicants to apply to the honors college?
Last year there was no correlation with getting asked to apply for honors and getting accepted. Which seemed cruel. But that was the reality. I think they were just trying to boost their honors apps.
