Sorry. To clarify, do you mean they asked people to apply to honors and didn’t accept them to the university or to the honors program? In any case, would love to see the data on that if you have it. Thx!
I don’t have any data- just last year my son applied EA, then while we were waiting for decisions to come out, he got an email to apply for honors so he did. I was on this thread last year while we were waiting his decision and us parents all discussed this same thing you all are now so I figured I’d chime in with our experiences from last year. People were pretty mad their kid was asked to apply for honors then got deferred. I think they really are just trying to boost honors apps. But of course it gets us parents crazy
Ugh. I hope it wasn’t a lot of kids. That is pretty mean.
Well I remember a lot ending up getting in RD, so while it was a long wait- it wasn’t a dead end they getting deferred. It’s just so hard waiting! Good luck!
D24 has 6 colleges that will likely hand down decisions sometime this week. At this point I just want flat out acceptances or denial and no deferrals.
I totally agree, but sadly most schools will defer unless you are WAY below their standards.
Same here!
Just a mom over here analyzing all these messages and changes on portals for SC and Clemson. Clemson is being released on Thursday hoping to hear from SC tomorrow.
Ha! It’s so funny, I’m a mom as well, I think we’re more stressed than the kids…
Oh I am doing the same thing! Clemson is her reach and U of SC is kinda, too.
All of these schools are reaches now - especially in the South - it’s crazy. My daughter got deferred from The U - my son goes there and she did the summer program as well - still got deferred. You just never know how it’s going to go. They get into schools you never thought they would, and get deferred/denied to schools you thought were a sure thing!
Very true…it is a wait and see…kinda random at times! We are moving to Charleston and luckily my dtr likes at least 4 SC schools.
WOW! Yes, usually the summer programs give you almost certain acceptance. That had to be a major blow for her. Bless her heart. Im sure she will end up getting in in the long run but dang that stinks.
She’s ok actually - looking at it as an opportunity to visit other campuses as all she really knows is The U since my son goes there. I actually think she may like somewhere else more…but we’ll see!
Anyone know why they released in state but not out of state?
They didn’t even release all of instate. So weird and random…
Oh really… interesting
Very True! And if this happened to my daughter although crushed I think she would look at it as a clear sign from God that He has a better plan than what she had planned.
The only in-state they have released are top 10% autoadmits.
Ah…ok so really nobody has been admitted that required a review of the actual
