Correct. Those are coming late this week.
OHHHHH thats good to know!
Late this week? I thought possibly tomorrow?
Im holding out for tomorrow.
We know several in state kids not even close to top 10% who were admitted 11/17 just fyi.
Soā¦when do we expect to hear early action decisions for OOS? Tomorrow weāre thinking?
Last year was a Wed, I believe the 14thā¦but I think they got an email the night beforeā¦unless I made that up.
They just opened the housing app so maybe weāre getting closeā¦
Any idea if the housing portal opened early last year too?
Is the housing app for choosing a dorm or just to meet potential roommates?
Choosing a dormā¦
and I am pretty sure they require you to enroll before putting down a housing deposit
Trying to read the tea leavesā¦any one getting changes on their portal? No changes here.
I am actually very sad about this. I grew up in South Carolina, graduated from USC, but live just over the state line in Georgia. My daughter is graduating from an extremely hard IB school that is more difficult that probably 95% of the SC high schools. She has a 3.4 GPA and is unlikely to get into USC because of this new automatic admission policy. If she went to a typical high school she would have been close to a 4.0 student. USC doesnāt give credit for legacy status (Clemson does) and the Supreme Court took away acknowledgment of her diversity.
Iām heartbroken that her first choice in school is unlikely. She has already received acceptances and significant scholarships to higher ranked schools but they are half way across the country and she really wants to come home easily (we are 2.5 hours from Columbia).
Does she have test scores? What do you mean about āautomatic admissionā policy?
Students in the state of South Carolina automatically get admission to USC if they are top 10% in their class.
Automatically admitted all SC students if they are in the top 10% of their class no matter the quality of their school. It takes spots from qualified out of state students. I grew up in Columbia and graduated from there. I still have family and friends there. We live just across the state line
If she has been admitted to higher ranked colleges, then there is a good chance that the South Carolina admissions office already knows about her current school and will reward her for her hard work to date.
I hope so however her college counselor at her school has been very pessimistic about her chances.
Just as I wrote that she came down with her acceptance email from George Mason and $48k scholarship
