University of South Carolina Early Action for Fall 2025

It is nice to have a solid date now though, so I’m very thankful for that :pray:t2:

No, that is the only thing that I have been told and did not ask, they knew I was wondering and mentioned it in passing. We were advised by a consultant to not submit test scores with test optional schools unless ACT score is 32 or above (and comparable SAT score). We took their advice.

So I guess the million dollar question is what is above average in this realm.

I wonder if it is similar to the criteria to be asked to apply for honors shortly after sending application in or was that sent to everyone?

Same

I’m thinking w/in the mid 50 % range or above

I would have gloated my way right into her office!

I wish my son could interview everywhere! That’s where he shines. Oh well. He is a kid that could be happy in many of the schools he applied to.

Oh trust me I did  My son too, but I’m in Talent Acquisition so I interview people for a living now and I would imagine some of it rubbed off on him.

In trying to read the tea leaves - did all students that apply get an invitation for honors? Or was there a threshold? Trying to infer if they have shown a threshold of some type already

If we didn’t receive the e-mail tonight would you assume it’s bad news?

Check junkmail. They sent it to me, my son and his father too.

we did. OOS 4.1 28 ACT

Nothing in junk for any of our email addresses…

We got an email stating decisions would be released throughout the day on Tuesday the 17th. Also gave a lengthy explanation about acceptance, deferrals, and denials.:grimacing:

It’s a bloodbath on the Clemson thread. Hope not so bad for SC. Does anyone know if Clemson is harder than Sc?

Not sure, but Clemson does defer a TON of kids, especially OOS. When my daughter applied in 2023, even kids that ended up at BC, Emory and Dartmouth were deferred at Clemson. We are in the North East.

Reading between the lines of the email, it looked like they evaluated EA apps the way UGA used to do (but doesn’t anymore) – they took high stats kids and everyone else will get deferred so they can go through the full holistic review. Fingers crossed here for D25 but I appreciate them letting us know that in the email so that kids (and parents) can brace themselves and come to terms with a potentially unexpected outcome.

I’m not thrilled that the decision is later than expected, but this email says to me they had a TON of applicants and had to create a strategy to somehow whittle them down fast.

Seems that way for sure. Crazy to see how many very high stat kids were deferred at Clemson.

Did your son or daughter apply for early action and meet the deadline?
