The wording of the email they sent worries me a bit. Feels like they are purely looking at stats and saying yes or no and not doing a holistic review. I really hope they spend more time with each application and make informed decisions ![]()
Same
Someone posted on a FB parents page that the EA admit rate was 8%. If that true, this will be even worse than Clemson EA! Has anyone heard anything similar?
Well thatâs a stat I saw, but it said 8% of their total admits are admitted during EA, not that 8% of the EA applicants are admitted. So itâs hard to say. Do they get more applications in EA or RD?
I got the same impression
Deleted bc I posted something incorrect.
wow - I didnât realize that. This is my 2nd go around and I always just assumed all the numbers you hear from these SEC schools (40% increase in applications, 50k applications etc) were all for EA.
Actually I stand corrected! Just looking at UGA as a comparison, in 2023 they had 26,000 applying for EA and 17,600 for RD. I was totally wrong!
I still donât understand how that will factor into UofSC EA decisions though!
Based on the number of EA applications these big schools are receiving, it seems they look for very high stat kids to admit (GPA, test scores, class rank?) then defer the rest to RD with very few rejections. At least thatâs my guess based on my sonâs experience with Penn St, Clemson and Indiana so far along other kids from my sonâs school and friendâs kids.
Yes - that sounds right. There doesnât seem to be enough info on the portal to even make any guesses. ![]()
Will be interesting what they consider high stats. Doesnât sound right when you really should take into account activities since someone could not do a thing in school and just get all A+âs because they donât have anything else to do.
I wasnât stressed about Tuesday, but now I am! The number of applicants is crazy.
Is there a specific time tomorrow?
wow that seems incredibly low for a school like uofsc, these schools are getting harder and harder to get into
will we know about capstone scholars tomorrow or is that later ?
no way itâs 8% accept rate for EA, that would mean RD is like +80% acceptance rate.
Would filling 8% of the class through EA make more sense? Iâm just repeating what I saw on another site so no first hand info. And I canât find anything from last year about EA admit rates either.
what is this other site which is citing such a number?
I think it was FB Parents Class of 2025
