University of South Carolina vs. Clemson for film/screenwriting?

I have narrowed down my college search to these two schools, due to receiving the Palmetto Fellows scholarship. However, I am very torn when it comes to which one I should attend. Both of them have a major that I’m interested in, but I don’t know which one would be better for me.

The courses for the World Cinema major at Clemson and the overall campus are more appealing to me. They also offer courses primarily for screenwriting. I love how broad and encompassing the major is-- especially the four years of foreign language and studying abroad. I absolutely love the location. I also appreciate that Atlanta, a major place for film, isn’t too far away.

However, I feel that UofSC could possibly be more beneficial. The Film and Media Studies major is also quite broad and offers a lot of resources. I read about an alumnus who attended UCLA (a dream) a year after graduating for his M.A. While I could not find any courses specifically for screenwriting, I do know that there is a professional screenwriter who teaches in the media arts department.

I have done all of the research that I can, and I am still torn! If anybody knows anything specific about either of these programs that they think could help me decide in this process, it would be appreciated.

Don’t chose a school because you heard about a graduate that later went to UCLA. That person has nothing to do with you, and is just one person. Also, don’t pick a college because you heard there is a screenwriter who teaches at that school - that person could be gone by next year, or worse be an uninspiring teacher that you learn nothing from!

Pick the school you think you would be happiest at.
