University of Tampa

Hello, has anyone’s child received a decision yet from Tampa? Thanks!

No, not yet. We haven’t heard of any acceptances yet this year. It makes me wonder if they are being more careful with acceptances since there seem to have been issues with enough housing in the last few years. The UTampa website said something like February for Early Action decisions. I hope we don’t have to wait that long.

Congratulations! My son applied EA so haven’t heard yet.

Has anyone heard back? I keep hearing about kid’s acceptance for other majors. I can’t find much on their website about decision deadline. Anyone have any intel?

That is good to know. I initially heard it was by Feb. 1st but now the website says by the end of February. Reached out to our admission counselor and were told early action candidates can expect to hear back by the end of February and they provide a more general timeline because the admissions committee is still reviewing applications and wants to ensure that every student application is thoroughly looked over. I am wondering if they will begin letting people know by Feb. 1st and send out in waves or if everyone will hear on the same day.

Any hints or more info on release date?! This seems like the longest wait for EA decision !

Still waiting! We are scheduled to attend Prospective Students Day on 2/17 but would be nice to know DS has been accepted before booking flights and hotels.

I asked on Instagram, last week, if there was an admitted students day for this very reason, and they responded that more details were to come within the next few weeks. We toured last summer and loved it, but would definitely like to go again when students were active on campus! We live in MA so I really don’t want to book flights if my daughter isn’t a definite accepted student! It’s strange, I was looking back at last year’s EA decisions and it looks like they came rolling out on Nov/ dec? Is this the first year with the super late EA notice? I understand when a college doesn’t offer EA for it to be later but this seems to be a super late EA roll out…

Thanks for the update. My sons 1st choice but the waiting it is becoming a tad disappointing and he is loosing interest (applied Oct 30).

Yes! My daughter has loved this college for years! She toured last summer and applied 10/29. It’s hard when we have done a lot of early action applications (all but UConn because they don’t offer it- and their decisions come Out almost around the same time as EA for tampa!) Hoping it’s soon- I’m stalking every single Instagram profile, post and story haha! :pray:t3::pray:t3::heart::black_heart:

Definitely different this year for admissions. In the past couple of years, I have known a few kids who applied and heard back very quickly, as Tampa admissions was essentially on a rolling basis. I think the spike in applications as well as more students choosing to accept have contributed to the slower process this year. Fingers crossed for us all!

This is their first year having ED. They over enrolled last year (or the year before?) and students couldn’t find housing anywhere, had to find another college to go to. A real mess, so ED is probably a good idea for them. That said, the lack of any news on EA makes them seem poorly run. I know their AOs don’t read the applications, and I’ve never heard who actually does read them. I envision a data center in Indonesia…

Maybe it’s not fair, but when the admissions process is clunky it makes me concerned about how they handle students and families after enrollment. Admissions is supposed to be the courting phase, no?

My thoughts exactly! Even when we reached out to get any information they just sort of referred
Us to a link on the UTampa website. Seemed super impersonal, especially for a private school! I expect that from a large state school but all the other private schools have been super welcoming and communicative!
