Does anyone know if students in Nursing school can be in Honors college?
Yes âHonors College students have âdual citizenshipâ: they are members of both the HCOL and one of the seven undergraduate degree granting schools and collegesâ Fall Semester | The Patrick Leahy Honors College | The University of Vermont
Did anyone ever get a mailer? D was accepted before Christmas but they havenât sent anything.
D24 just got a mailer last night. Itâs very modest.
Thanks. Itâs weird, they have done no outreach at all so far, zero emails, no invites to admitted students day, no honors invite. Not feeling much love.
We got the mailer last night, but it was really small. Just a letter and simple brochure. No stickers or anything.
No stickers for the Stanley tumbler? Wow their marketers aremissing the boat!
Interesting. We got an email to her, a separate email to my husband and I from dean of admissions and a large envelope mailer. She is admitted to honors with highest possible financial award but it seems like everyone should get the same thing!
Yeah she didnât get honors but did get presidential scholarship so I would think they would try at least a little. Sheâs poli sci.
We got those emails and the large envelope mailer, too. My daughter received the same scholarship. I was just saying that many of the mailers from other colleges have been much more detailed and included some fun swag.
Same here. Multiple emails, including one from Grossman Business, his particular program.
Just got more hard mail and another email about visiting campus. Maybe they just started slow? We did get actual swag from other schools.
We got the mailer from the school of Arts and Sciences recentlyâthree weeks after he withdrew his acceptance.
My older child was accepted EA to UVM in 2021/2022 with a similar scholarship that DS 24 was awarded and received a ton of emails, swag mailing (keyboard stickers, car stickers), and personalized emails to parents form Dean of Admissions.
No swag, but the communications via email & snail mail have been excellent. My son applied to only four schools, but UVM has been far and away the best at keeping in touch.
My DS is graduating from UVM in May and Iâm happy to answer any questions people might have.
One thought I have re: swag is that they have frozen tuition since the pandemic, so Iâm sure budgets are tight when it comes to extras of that nature. Theyâre also pretty generous with merit for out of state kids. Swag is fun in the moment, but I wouldnât give it too much weight .
CTCape. Our daughter was accepted for Engineering. We read one some other boards that UVM might lack school spirit and although our daughter isnât someone who is 100% rah rah all the time she does want a place with some school spirit. We know thereâs no football in the Autumn but is there school spirit/traditions, etc?
My son says hockey and basketball are big if sheâs into either. They also have annual events related to skiing and snowboarding on campus (I think itâs called rail jam?). Re: traditions there are lots of smaller annual events, ex: 2 âweeks of welcomeâ the first couple weeks of each semester, and a beautiful candlelight convocation at the end of orientation in August. But it is definitely not an SEC school vibe by any means. Lots of pride, but not a rah rah environment at all.
I wonder how often that happens that an EA student is offered Honors College in March?
