My OOS son accepted with $25K scholarship and honor’s college for engineering. 1510 SAT, 100 WGPA, 9 APs, varsity/travel sports, and work. After the SUNYs, this is one of the most popular colleges at our HS.

S24 got accepted to computer science major
OOS no test scores
3.7 weighted GPA

We did not do a campus visit. Top visited schools are UPitt, James Madison and UMASS. It seems Iike UVM has become very popular this year in NJ. Curious what people thought if they did a campus visit.

OOS, deferred, animal science. While it is my DD favorite, she took it in stride as she has a number of other great options if she doesn’t get in during the regular decision pool. They said sometime in March, she’ll hear. We did tour UVM this past summer, and I think it is worth a visit if your child has been accepted and hasn’t visited yet. Congrats to those accepted.

  • no invitation to Honors College - D24 is sad about this

ETA D submitted her SAT - 1420 - was probably a mistake to do this if she wanted Honors College

Pretty much the exact same here - 4.45 weighted, admitted (Computer Science), very high rigor, OOS, Presidential $25K/year. Submitted 1420 and did not get Honors invite.

Yeah, I think our SAT kept her out of the running for honors. But they have their freshman year to prove themselves. Also, I remember at the tour like every tour guide was in the honors program and dropped out.

D24 Accepted OOS

Is the $25k/year presidential new for this year? The NPC on the website shows a max of $20k, and I had thought it was capped at 20 in the past. If so, good to see them raising their offerings.

Also, what SAT seems to be the bar to get honors college admission?

Over the last month or two, I noticed that UVM raised the amounts awarded for merit but didn’t update the NPC. Playing around with the NPC, the projected award amount went down when I included my kid’s SAT scores. So, I suggested he opt out of submitting his test scores. With his weighted GPA, he would need to score above a 1430 on the SAT to receive the max award amount. That said, you can plug in the GPAs & SATs of the students who shared their info. Some received higher merit amounts than the NPC predicted. I’m skeptical that the SAT scores were a deciding factor for the Honors College.

Daughter accepted to Honors College, OOS, $25K. She really loves this school! I think she will be choosing between UVM and University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
