My son didn’t have soccer balls either! But cool idea
so weird some didn’t get the soccer balls! wonder if it depends on when the “acceptance” was submitted in back end system or something?
Oh we see the balls now - it wasn’t in the letter but she sees it on the main page.
was the honors college mentioned in letter?
It was for my daughter. Presidential scholarship and honors college were both with admission.
We were pretty surprised to get top presidential scholarship but we did not have a mention of the honors college while we have a couple other schools we got in with honors so far. I am hoping in future we hear since the money was nice but, we are going to have to weigh all options for schools.
My daughter was accepted with an invite to the Honors Program and the $25K Presidential Scholarship. She will be declining, though, as she was admitted elsewhere ED.
I loved UVM so much. She wanted more urban, though.
Oh, and no soccer balls… which was a little disappointing.
i had misstated where soccer balls were…FWIW… it wasn’t on letter but on landing page. Still may not be there, can’t be sure!
Yes, it was.
ISD accepted with IS scholarship. Since we live 10 minutes from UVM though, its at the bottom of her list.
For those whose students were admitted into honors college, would love to see some stats on their students and areas of focus/majors if anyone is willing to share! Thanks in advance.
FWIW, last year my kid and a close friend from the same HS were both admitted EA to UVM with very very similar applications (GPA, rigor, rank, both TO, ECs). They received the same presidential scholarship, but one was invited to honors college and one wasn’t; in fact, the applicant who had the (relatively insignificant) edge in stats/ECs was the one who was not invited.
So I don’t know how much stats will tell you. My suspicion is that major plays a role—I believe they want distribution in honors college across majors—as well as other factors like essays.
My daughter is a prospective math major: 1520 SAT (800M) and 4.0UW. She also chose to do the why UVM essay which was easy because she loves it.
My d25 is likely biochem, 1570, 4.0uw, ecs mostly science but no contests/awards and a niche sport - private school in nyc. also did the optional essay - really does like UVm.
Her friend (also d25) from the same school was also offered it. similar scores (I think 35 ACT) and grades and astrophysics interest.
Though we did not get invited to the Honors Program it seems we just got asked to apply for the STEM Scholars Program. I am assuming this is being offered to everyone in a STEM major.
My kid got that email too - and was a trustee scholarship, not presidential trustee is a tier down ) so assume everyone (or near to it) is getting it with STEM major…
I think I read somewhere else on this site that someone got a $40k trustee scholarship. I could be mixing up my schools but I’m almost certain it was UVM.
Son was accepted OOS with the 25K presidential scholarship. English major. Brings costs in line with our in state schools, so that helps.
On their website, the Trustee scholarship is worth less than the Presidential. Max $14K for OOS students.

I think the parent who said their kid got a $40k trustee scholarship was probably mistaken.
Actually, they probably meant $40k over 4 years!
