Yes, my son got presidential (not honors) and also received the invite to apply for the STEM scholar program. Sounds like a great program!

A friend’s daughter graduated from there a couple of years ago. She really enjoyed it (from CA) and did not mind the weather. We toured it and really liked it, and the town, but it’s so hard to get there for us. Probably the only reason it will likely drop off the list.
We toured a lot of schools and the admissions presentation, given by students, was one of the best and most impressive of the bunch, much better than some very highly ranked schools we toured! The students were smart, interesting, very friendly and funny!

I agree — UVM was maybe the best presentation we’ve been to! The students were all truly fantastic. Super smart, engaged and doing interesting things on and off campus!

My daughter applied as an early childhood education major. I know most honors colleges like a variety of majors so that likely helped as it’s not as popular as some.

GPA 4.0 uw, 4.5 w
SAT 1490 (770 v, 720 m)
Strong ECs and essay

Agree on presentation for a standard college tour they won. We did go to an individual college tour at another school that blew us away. I wonder if the individual colleges do their own tour. We never got to see the school of arts and sciences.

is it worth it to apply for the STEM scholars program if I am going pre-vet? Can anyone tell me what the pros/cons are? Tysm!

I heard that it does get you good housing and into research before school starts. I did hear that you can not do honors college with the STEM scholars. It also is a brand new program this year. So no one can give their thoughts on the program.

Both my children got into UVM EA with presidential scholarship and Honors College.
They applied Test Optional / OOS.
They have a 3.97unweighted / 5.0 weighted GPA, good essays, leadership, extra curriculars, etc.
They did do all the ā€˜optional’ essays they could.
Good luck to all!

STEM Scholars invites just came out. Looks like February onsite session or virtual interview. We did not hear anything on Honors but, this seemed like a great opportunity to do research at the start.

FYI, my S25 just received an invitation to the honors college—he had been accepted back in December with $25k presidential but no honors then.

My son just received an invite to join the waitlist for the Honors College at UVM (he was accepted EA w/ $25k scholarship). Does anyone know if you have to commit before joining the waitlist? I am looking online but don’t see a definitive answer. Thanks!

UVM is notifying that your son is on the waitlist for the Honors College. If your son decides to attend UVM, I would recommend actively lobbying for a spot.

I understand that part - thanks. My question was - can he join the Honors College waitlist before he has committed to attending UVM? He has not committed yet. Awaiting some other responses.

To put my initial response another way, UVM will not rescind the Honors College waitlist invitation while your son awaits other responses.
