University of Vermont?

Out of the blue, I got a VIP application from this school, so I went ahead and started my application. I don’t understand why they would send me a VIP app, though. Besides, how did they get my info?

Anyway, I had a few questions about this school. Is this school a good choice for a Biology major? Do they offer financial aid to international students? Does the VIP application increase chances of acceptance? How diverse is the school? How is the social life? How are the dorms? The people? How would you rank SUNY Buffalo, Stony Brook, Rutgers New Brunswick, Penn State, and Univ of Vermont?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Oh, the essay. It says I can write an essay about whatever I want, but I wanted to be sure of something. I really liked Johns Hopkins’ essay question, and wrote a great essay with it. I want to use this essay with this application, too, but I was wondering, should I just write the question and paste my essay, or should I explain to them how I liked this essay topic from JHU. Which would be a better way to do this?

I probably am not much help with ur questions, but, I got an invitation to do the VIP application, and have yet to, I think I might tho. My freinds have all applied, and for some of them it is one of their first choices. Im coming from the #1 school in Illinois, so by no means are these kids dumb, and they all REALLY like the school. One of my freinds visited, and loooveed the campus and the feel. She did say that it was a lot of white kids, but in many cases, the is the fact of many colleges. It is not that high ranked, and that is the only fear i have with applying…its size however is comparable to syraucse, one of my top choices, but i still felt that syracuse was too big. I would think penn state night be ur top school out of those,

I applied to binghamton and got in, i was wondering what made u choose buffalo and stony brook of bing? im an out of stater

good luck!

UVM is a really good, under the radar school. The dorms are variable, some are nice and some are so-so, but all are livable. There is an overwhelmingly amount of white kids and pot, so if that makes you very uncomfortable do not go there. If you don’t mind other kids doing it you will not be forced to yourself. Burlington is a great college town, and if you like to ski/ride the nearest mountain is only 25 minutes away, and the good ones are about an hour away. It’s a really great school that is worth looking into if they sent you the VIP app.

I graduated a long time ago (1978) but UVM was wonderful and several of my college friends loved it so much they still live in Burlington or the surrounding area. UVM is in a lovely setting, especially if you like outdoor activities. I down hill and cross country skiied to my heart’s content. When we got itchy for something different, my friends and I went to Montreal for jazz clubs and the opportunity to speak French. I can’t speak to the diversity, or the strength of the bio program, but I would definitely give UVM a hard look. Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys. Keep 'em coming.

lulubelle, I chose Stony Brook for its Biology program, Buffalo for both that and location, and Albany for…I don’t remember. I think the joint program.
