Not all schools believe this, nor does all data show this outcome (DePaul, Bates data show no difference in college GPA by test scores, just to take two examples). I don’t know where UVA stands on the matter, as they haven’t published any data to my knowledge.

Fair. I read that top schools like MIT was the particular school in the article… suggest SAT matters. This makes sense… where when dealing with the upper >99.x% … yes, it seems a test optional 1590 SAT vs. a 1320 SAT would/could make a difference. But for the Tier2 universities and so on… maybe “drive” and “determination” matter most!

Maybe this is suited better for another thread. S25 UVA tour complete and LOVED it. NOTE: Clearly top of list, only a full-ride somewhere like my alma mater CWRU, or Duke / JHU give an admit which is a bit random at best.
He is going into Biomedical Engineering with plans to apply for medical school. This is the same path his older brother is on at GT … and certainly it’s a tougher route, so be it, we’re up for coming out battle tested.
QUESTION > Is there a link with data on UVA graduating GPA for Biomedical Engineers? Course or GPA management in college is important, not suggesting he’ll game the system and take hard classes at a Jr. Col or something, just looking to see what is nominal graduating GPA for BME?
e.g. GT we were able to find 3.4 GPA nominal for older brother, and we were comfortable with that suspecting/hoping he’d out hustle the nominal.

Glad your S25 loves UVA. My D21 is there now, graduating in May. She does systems engineering. I don’t have an answer for you re your GPA question on bio eng but my D21 surely loves every second of her time at UVA. There doesn’t seem to be any grade inflation or deflation. And the environment is very friendly. It’s very easy to find TAs, attend office hours and professors to chat. My D25 got admitted too during EA. Her heart is quite set on UVA except that we told her to wait for her few RDs as well. Best of luck to your S25’s decision. He will end up being in the most suited school.

Understood. Unable to find anything at UVA website. Other schools (at least one) spell out GPA, SAT, etc. by state, by major, and so on.
I meant there are UVA BME students on reddit who will respond with their experience with the major. You can see if the gpa is listed in this dashboard … very slow to load for me.

Is anyone still waiting on their financial aid package from UVA. My daughter was accepted on January 31, but we haven’t heard anything regarding financial aid.
should probably reach out and make sure all the paperwork is done.
