University of Washington Class of 2028 Official Thread

I think it’s possible. UW looks holistically at a students application, if you took challenging classes throughout highschool had ECs and wrote a STRONG personal essay you might have a chance. They look at the essay part a lot. Don’t quote me on that though. Wishing you lots of luck!

I appreciate that sm!! I played two varsity sports all four years of hs, was in NHS two years, honor choir four years, wrote about my friends struggle with substance abuse and how it changed me. I took only 3 APs though, 2 Pre-AP classes, and an honors hs credit in eighth grade. my gpa was really impacted because of my freshman year grades (COVID) because I had a 3.1 and a 3.2 first and second semester. wrote about that in the optional other circumstances section so don’t know if that would help my odds?

I definitely think it definitely helps that the thing dropping your gpa happened in the beginning of your highschool years. I think if you were able get good grades these past 3 years they will definitely take notice in the uphill curve you have taken. Colleges in general like to see grade improvements and positive grade patterns, which helps your chances. Rather than having big drops in grades your junior year or somthing

Not out of the question, but chances start to be really good tomorrow night. It will come out around 8pm pacific on some night this week.

How do they manage to tease us on different instagram accounts everyday of the week?

multiple reports on reddit from people who supposedly emailed IT and were told that decisions are releasing tomorrow at 8pm. haven’t confirmed myself, but everyone is corroborating

I did check this myself and that is what I was told as well! Seems pretty legitimate, I am banking on this

hey ive recently gotten into uc davis and uc irvine, and now waiting for uwash, I want an easy college life but at the same time good placements after college(got a major of data science in letters science at davis, Data science at irvine in college of engineering and now waiting for cs at uwash). with complete honesty and no bias which college do you think would be better and also which uc is better between davis and irvine

Not sure you can do much better than CS at UW. Very competitive though, so certainly it’s no guarantee. Especially if you’re not in-state. Best of luck!

does UW send emails advising to check portal prior to releasing results?

No, it sounds like results will be posted at 8 on the portal, and if like last year, they will send email notification 15-30 min later.

Thanks! :blush::heart:

If it’s like the last couple years the first updates hit the portal just before 8:15 pm (and yes, west coast time). Don’t panic if no updates at 8:00 pm sharp. And emails were as much as an hour later. The emails may have gone out in batches over the course of an hour or so. That would make sense, to avoid 70,000 portal updates in the same minute. This crew is now in the know though!

Thanks for clarifying time zone! As a west coaster whose child is applying to mostly east coast schools, I just assumed that the 8 pm referenced was east coast time!

How about economics ?
