No problem. Good luck!

My daughter was waitlisted to Psych, OOS. Got into Cal Poly SLO as well. Plus: UT Austin. 4.3 W, Eagle Scout, Varsity Swim and an intern in Psych Dept at a research university for two years. She said she’s glad to be in the same group as your daughter!

I feel all of this is super crazy! My son was admitted to UW last night-in state to Real Estate. Also admitted to Cal Poly SLO CM on Monday. Both are stunning admits but was waitlisted at more seemingly less competitive schools. His close friend (female) waitlisted with much higher grades and objectively more rigor in science and was waitlisted for Biology and has not heard from Cal poly. In state rigorous private school-and my son would fall in the 25th percentile of gpas admitted to both schools. I cannot tell you he did anything unique other than he did have two different summer experiences of competitive not paid for-construction internship experiences. Neither schools uses recommendations so it’s not as if those people could have vouched for him. I feel guilty more qualified kids did not get in. I feel immensely blessed someone at both schools thought he could cut it. Let’s hope they are right. He worked his junior and senior year and had sports and no APs until senior year.

I am sure this will upset people-I am just posting for those scanning later than it’s worth the roll of the dice sometimes.

Every college seems to do this differently. Where do I look to see if my student was awarded a scholarship?

Purple and Gold merit awards were listed in the acceptance letter.

S24 got denied at U Washington for Env. Engg. It was a reach for him. We got to know today that he got into Purdue after getting deferred, so all is well!

I got accepted to UW
Requested Arch. Design and got assigned Pre Architecture & Urban Planning (I think I’m on the right track to apply to Arch Design Junior year?)

OOS
First Gen
3.98 Unweighted
Didn’t submit scores cause they were crap

9 APs total (4 junior, 5 senior)
Of the 9 APs, I did dual enrollment for 3 instead of the test in May

Orchestra since elementary, involved with school’s music program
Racked up decent (?) community service between summer to Senior yr
Key Club, NHS Officer, another club member that involves volunteering

I hope this gives hope to somebody out there. Rejection doesn’t mean failure, it only means you’re redirected to somewhere that values you, as you.

OOS here. We didn’t get it either which is a bit of a surprise to be honest.

D24 in state.
3.9 uw, 4.25w
7AP classes
EC
Varsity sports volleyball and golf
Volenteer with special needs kids.
Waitlist.
Accepted to UMich and U of O architecture program. We were disappointed that our flagship ā€œsafe schoolā€ waitlisted her while one of her ā€œreach schoolsā€ accepted her. Still waiting for Berkeley and Cal Poly SLO. But she had options so we are thankful.

Congratulations to you!

Hi, I’m an OOS student from CA who got admitted into UW for business. I was wondering if you could share more about your daughter’s experience. I’ve had a rough time with UCs and now that there’s only two left…I’m not feeling really hopeful. I know UW is a great school and it’s one of my top choices, but OOS tuition is really expensive  Any insights would be really helpful and thank you so much!

Would you mind sharing exactly where the scholarship info is listed? Is it on this page?

You did not get one unfortunately.

Anyone here who was accepted into pre sciences major and subsequently took the placement test for a specific major?

anyone received their official welcome materials yet?

It will take a few more days. It just released on Thursday night! They might not even start mailing it out till this week.

Does anyone know if its possible to a appeal if you got accepted as a ā€œpre-majorā€. My son applied CS, got pre-science but isn’t interested in any of the direct admit majors…he’s not sure if he wants to risk going to UW and applying sophomore for CS, not getting in, and then trying figure out next steps or just attend a school that he’s been accepted to that has a full CS and Cybersecurity program …(I think the latter is the obvious choice, but I digress…)

It’s not possible. I can’t recommend going to UW at this point as he is unlikely to be studying CS snce the application process for students already attending is more challenging than being admitted right now. One of the full CS/cybersecurity programs would work better. Good luck!!

I keep hearing that the odd are against for students taking the placement test for CS program. However the website indicates that 25%-35% students who take the placement test are offered their major of interest. What am I missing?
