That’s UW’s Spring Break time, between Winter quarter and Spring Quarter.
Oh. That explains it. Thanks!
Yeah most schools including UW closed those loopholes. Doesn’t mean there aren’t some others out there though!
As far as “chances” go- 4.0 unweighted you’re usually good from what we’ve seen, but if you’re in the 3.9 unweighted range AND are light on APs (or equivalents) it’s not a guarantee. My kids could list off many examples.
(BUT, any first-generation students are a separate category and clearly have much better chances w/ lower grades)
Looks like so! I just tried all the above tricks but no loopholes found …
Yeah, I don’t think we will find anything. I guess we just wait it out!
Yes, but if I click begin confirmation, it says, “You don’t have any offers of admission eligible to be confirmed at this time.” Everyone on the reddit thread has that same message too. Not a tell sadly. That would be to easy.
I have the same
we dont see any such thing.
We are OOS applied to Business major. How is acceptance rate for that major for OOS?
Definitely better than OOS CS
Does UW use weighted or unweighted? If weighted, do they recalculate themselves? I have a 3.85 UW, OOS, major leadership, 2 varsity sports, IR major, great essays. But weighted I’m at 4.2, so big difference…
Oh yeah - -also, full pay.
Very few schools use weighted GPA including UW. Most recalculate and also run an algorithm comparing scores from kids from the same high school in prior years. Attempted rigor within your school reality is usually the focus not raw or weighted GPA. True for nearly every larger public.
I’m waiting for the post noting their “poor” essays or “average” ECs. Everyone thinks they have great ones.
Ok thanks, that’s helpful. That’s what I meant by weighted: they have a method of recalculating, as you explained.
can somebody chance me? thank you!!
in state, 3.59 unweighted gpa, two varsity sports 4 years, honor choir 4 years (highest choral group in school), 3 APs, senior class secretary, 1290 SAT, applying for English major
The overall acceptance rate is 50%, and since English is not an impacted major and you are in-state, I’d say you have a decent chance. Though, decisions are only a few days away and I’d advise you to not stress out about it.
Based on the Youtube linked above. 2,000 more in-state apps than last year. About 5k more out of state apps.
50%ish acceptance rate overall last year. Yield around 25%. A few more apps probably will lower the acceptance rate slightly more so OOS.
16.7% enrolled in that GPA band. SAT isn’t really applicable. Probably a higher yield in that GPA band in state. I don’t think anyone can actually weigh someone’s ECs and the impact unless they literally work in UW admissions.
Correct it is a decent chance. Is what it is - no reason to stress is 100% correct, you and everyone else will know soon.
From our experience, below a 3.8 w/ limited APs (fewer than say 5-7 range) and you may be in trouble. But, yes if your high school doesn’t offer many APs that is considered and may save you. Also, applying for a less-constrained major helps, whether they state it clearly or not.
Again, first-generation students is a whole different category. Below 3.5 is possible in that situation. That group of students makes up 1/3 of the in-state class and may skew some of the GPA ranges people rely on.
