So I have been following this thread and have no insight. We are in DC. But when you are saying 8:00 are you referring to West coast time. I was hoping we EST and it was late because it is a west coast school! Probably wishful thinking!!!
Iām with you. This is the big one in our house- the only school that she wants to go to! She wanted to stay in the PNW, and has gotten into some other schools, but this is the one she wants. Super nervous- sheās worked so hard!
8pm PST, sorry I know itās going to be pretty late for you folks.
Iāve been right there with you on a few other OOS threads! Ugh, this one is gonna hurt. Itās pretty much the last one for daughter (a mid-west school deferral to RD answer comes at the end of the month but she seems to have moved on?). She recently withdrew the majority of her other very good offers, one of which had me dying inside, but itās not my decision. She is 90% sure of what offer she is accepting but UW is pretty much baked into her DNA with all of the family that has attended over the years. This could get ugly in an emotional way. So grateful she worked hard to have options!
Right now, everyone at home is putting on a tough front, pretending to be calm and indifferent. But beneath it all, the tension is real. My wife and I arenāt seeing eye to eyeāwe keep reassuring each other that no matter what happens, weāll be okay, that sheās gotten into great schools and thatās what truly matters. But we both know the truth: this decision is going to change our family in ways we canāt fully grasp yet.
Gosh, UW, why did you have to make this so hard⦠lol.
Yep. It will. My S24 wanted to go to UDub longer than I can remember. He said if he got in he wanted to SIR that night. His stats were above the middle 50% and his ECs were stellar. His English teacher read his essay to the class as an example and said it was one of the best college essays heās read in his 30 years teaching. S24 was waitlisted last year by UDub. It was a rough night. A few weeks later, he was accepted by UC Berkeley - a school that wasnāt even on his radar because he figured heād never get in. He says now that the waitlist from UDub was the best thing that could have happened because it forced him to consider other options. And he canāt imagine being happier than he is at Berkeley - he LOVES it. And it means in-state tuition for us!
So if the decision isnāt what you hope, take time to be mad, but then figure out why you werenāt meant to be there. Itās easy for me to say that now. But it does work out.
My first kid went through this 4 years ago(waiting for news about son #2 tonight) and he had 6 rejections in a row before he finally started getting some acceptances. It was ROUGH. But while I was stressing out, he told me not to worry, it doesnāt really matter WHERE he goes, what matters is what he does when heās there. When I realized my 17-year-old was wiser than I am I relaxed and let it play out. He ended up with some great acceptances and is about to graduate after an excellent 4 years at a school that was a good fit for him. Take deep breaths, our kids are strong and resilient!
So decision in 20 mins?
Gosh I wish. Iām starting to think next week.
next wkš
no change in portal⦠next week!!
I doubt decisions ever come out exactly on time. Letās see in a bit, but yeah, maybe next week.
I was really hoping for this weekā¦
I guess there is always tomorrow!
A lot of colleges release decisions on a Friday. Itās much more common. So possibly tomorrow!!!
That was pretty anticlimactic⦠lol.
Guess Iāll live another day.
Keeping my hopes high and expectations low
Ugh. Come on UW, you know you have it done. Push the button and release. LOL
Just re-posting this from earlier, for the new eyes that may be just joining us. Only a handful of people comment, but these threads seem to get thousands of views. Tonight is possible, but next week is still very much on the table.
(re-posting) For those counting down the days, hereās the decision timing for the past several years. This would put the best guess for this year at Thursday March 6th or 13th just after 8pm. Maybe a lean to March 13th. Portals were updated first, then emails followed by maybe 30 minutes. UW refers to releasing in batches, but in practice just about everyone heard the same evening. Very few exceptions. No guarantees it will be the same this year of course!
2020: Friday 3/6 after 8pm

UW New Huskies IG just posted four pictures of places to visit on campus. Just FYI
