University of Washington Class of 2030 Official Thread

May I ask if there was an OOS tuition discount associated with the acceptance?

Our college counselor did not know if there was still a chance for us to get a partial tuition waiver since nothing was mentioned in the portal. She will have to contact admissions to get clarification. But every other schools merit offer has always been at the time of acceptance announcement.

No tutition discount (other than 3k purple and gold scholarship that came with the first acceptance email)

Thank you.

what program you applied to?

My son just received notification of acceptance to Honors. He applied as Engineering (undeclared)

That’s super impressive! My DD didn’t get in (we didn’t realize how competitive it was and frankly didn’t spend enough time on it :slightly_smiling_face: ). Was surprised only ~240 students selected. Congrats to your son!

do you mean 240 students into honors program?

I think that’s what my DD’s email said. I can find out (maybe I misunderstood?).

Is he In-state? would you mind sharing stats?

Did your daughter receive email stating that she is not offered honors program? We did not receive anything yet. but hopeful with scholarship.

yes, she received email yesterday. I’ll find out more details and post.

Son just got his email for acceptance into honors about an hour ago. We are so happy for him bc he can be a little hard on himself and this will be such a confidence boost. Anyway, the email doesn’t mention a scholarship of any kind (he got the p&g). He will do the acceptance tonight. For those who received both honors and an honors scholarship, do you mind specifying where that’s mentioned?

We are still waiting for email. congrates!! Is your kid OOS.

Thank you, and yes, we are oos.

our honors application is rejected. What other options are there for some form of scholarship. we are oos. Any suggestions.

For OOS people, are you considering how SAD (seasonal affective disorder) will affect your kid? I’m worrying about it since we are from CA and get loads of lovely sunshine which my D26 loves.

This is a real concern for my kid too. I think the reputation of overcast and wet weather from November through March is the main factor vs. some California admits he’s weighing UW against.

Light levels may affect some kids. But for my kids, the cooler Pacific Northwest weather is a big plus! Rainfall also results in beautiful lush greenery which can be soothing to the senses.

agree that is also an issue. Given that admission process is so complex across the nation and that he rode throw it, adjusting to this is rather easy I suppose. May be he will appreciate weather at home more and come back after college. We also gotinto UCSD but into second major. Switching to selective major is also so complex even their admin office can not answer. I am advising my child to consider universities that not only offer him admission but also value his accomplishments. Do not know what else to do.
